Thincom modem August 17, 2000 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This modem is very easy to setup and to use. Within minutes, I was able to establish a connection to my server at work and with my Internet provider. It is much more convenient to download my email with my Visor than with my laptop. Potential buyers should be aware that the Multimail software (the email client)included with the modem is a trial version; you must purchase the software at the Actual Software home page. Other than this (which is not stated anywhere) the modem is well worth the price.
An Excellent Springboard Modem August 17, 2000 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I just got the Thincom Springboard Modem today and it works great! Just plug it in, and there is a 'wizard' type application that opens up guiding you through the steps to get online. The program multimail that is included on the module crashes my Visor DLX however, so I'm using Handmail instead. also, proxiweb is much better than the included web browser. but the hardware on the unit is unbeatable, not to mention that it's half as large as the Handspring Modem. The included cable is only about 6', not too big a deal, but I would have liked to use my wind-up modem cord card. Also, the modem does not sport a standard RJ11 phone jack on the top, instead it is a small edge connector type deal (I'm told it's not proprietary however, and is used with many PCMCIA modems). Overall, a very good buy :)
Nice Work August 14, 2000 29 out of 31 found this review helpful
The people who made this were thinking. It's got a better user interface than the handspring modem, it's smaller, lighter weight, doesn't use it's own batteries, upgradable, and it works just as well. I'd definately reccommed it, and the stowaway keyboard for travelers. Plus you can get free internet access from nearly anywhere in the nation...just don't install the program they give you on your desktop or you'll regret it. Happy visor surfing.
