A great skype phone but need some firmware upgrade November 16, 2008 This is great skype phone. It has good speaker phone, mic. nice sound quality. works well to call other cell phones and land lines where some human being pickup the phone. Cons: When it comes to interacting with IVR system (Banks / customer support / conf calls etc..) this phone is a poor choice. Despite we pressing the key(s), Our input will never reach IVR system. if you lucky enough, once in 10 attempts may be successful. This is really painful. I expect Belkin to release some firmware to fix this problem. Other inconvenience with the phone is about handset, it is not well designed, holding it for more than five minutes is pain due to its poor design. I prefer to use speaker phone instead.

I would recommend this October 30, 2008 I bought this phone to use skype without computer. Easy to get started. Since I had SKYPE ID, in less than 2 minutes I was able to get started and make phone calls.
Speaker phone is clear and LCD display is great.
Only drawback, I saw changing the time zone. Even after time zone was set and when you restart, it goes to default.
In short, a good equipment for decent price.
Good Phone October 29, 2008 This phone has:
-excellent sound quality -does not depend on the computer to boot up -is not cheaply made (as others have claimed) -easy to install on your router -has functions similar to a landline office phone (hold, mute, etc.)
only negatives are that the base tends to move easily when talking and the speakerphone requires one to be very close (but it does work).
Overall, very nice phone for the price.
Better than expected October 25, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this product with caution, aware that not all of the reviews for it were positive.
To me, the major complaints seemed exaggerated.
Some reviews complained of cheap plastic, but it seems sturdy to me, even if it's not solid polycarbonate.
Other reviews complained of problems with the handset being hard to place on the unit. This also seems unsubstantiated to me; I have had no such difficulties.
I called my mom on speaker phone, and I had a 15 minute conversations at varying distances from the phone (up to 10 feet away) without any loss of clarity for her. So, I'm not sure why some complained about the speaker phone experience.
You do have to press 00 before every call, unless you're dialing a contact, but this wasn't a major drawback in my opinion.
In summary, this phone does exactly what I wanted it to do: it acts as a simple, cheap land-line replacement that doesn't need to be connected to my computer.
fun but... October 15, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read the other reviews and gave it a shot. It worked well. BUT it kept disconnecting from skype within ten minutes. Could not sign in again or reset the darn thing. The only solution was to unplug the power supply and wait another minute or two to reboot. naturally, not a very practical way to have a land line.
But when it worked, it was fine. nothing fancy. decent sound quality on both ends and immune to web browsing. Even the hand set wasn't too bad. Called Belkin support and it was a bad connection to Asia. they told me the problem is with my Motorola "surfboard" router. Called Motorola and they recommended (and walked me through) changing my channels. a lot of work and no result.
So the phone got returned! if it had stayed connected, I would have given in a four star and used it a lot. Too bad, pretty little thing! Now I am back to using my IPEVO Free.1 but that means the computer stays on.
