Amazon.com Product Description
The AT&T 993 Corded 2-Line Speakerphone is perfect for a small business that needs a telephone that supports two lines. You can make and receive calls by using the keypad and Speakerphone in the base station. The phone's three-party conferencing lets you conduct business with three people conversing together on three different lines. Automatic line selection means that when the phone is ringing and you pick up, you will be connected to the one that is ringing. You can also set up different ringtones for each of the lines.

A large display provides easy-to-read text for setup and caller information. The phone has a 100-entry memory and a 99-name-and-number caller ID history. Numbers stored in the caller ID history can be dialed directly; and with call waiting-capable caller ID, you can see who is calling even when you are already on the line. If you subscribe to a voicemail service, a red light blinks when you have voicemail waiting. For hands-free operation, the 2.5-millimeter jacks lets you connect a headset.

3 out of 5 stars Worked until one month return expired   November 1, 2008
The Speakerphone worked reasonably well for the first month then started "clipping" and missing some of the words at all volume levels. The rest of the phone works as advertised but I guess there are not really good corded phones at any price.

3 out of 5 stars 2-Line Corded Phone   October 31, 2008
I was expecting a 2 -line corded phone utilizing the energy of the telephone line, and this prouct uses AC utilizing the included transformer or one 9V Battery.
The phone works fine, but if there is a power failure you phone will not be able to Ring unless you have installed the 9V Battery

5 out of 5 stars Batteries not needed!   October 25, 2008
Works great! I've had bad luck with phones and after reading reviews of this one, I was ready to be disappointed. One main reasons I purchased it, is because I liked the fact that it comes with a power unit you plug into the wall, so it doesn't require batteries. The display works perfectly, the volume level is just fine. I like it. And the buttons - I love how easy it is to dial a number. I've had no problems with any of the features. I'm very happy with it and I like having something I can use even if the power goes out. I'd recommended it to others and would definitely buy another one.

2 out of 5 stars Hum with headset on AT&T Corded 2-line speakerphone   October 17, 2008
I just obtained my AT&T Corded 2-Line Speakerphone.

Initial problem I have is when using my headset, I hear a hum. If I put the phone on mute, the hum goes away.
I only have 1 line connected.
Anybody have any thoughts ?

2 out of 5 stars Hum on the phone; Customer Support not so hot   October 9, 2008
As another purchaser said and retracted, I also had a hum on the phone when BOTH lines (copper and VOIP) were plugged into the phone. When either line was plugged into the phone individually, it sounded fine. The 993 has a great feature set for the most part. My biggest complaint other than the hum is that the volume control does not seem to control the headset jack.

I called AT&T customer service about the humming and, after, many questions from a script, I was told to change the channel on my router as that was probably interfering with my CORDED telephone. The change had no effect which is what I expected but I wanted to give the "tech support" folks a chance.

I would not recommend this phone to users having VOIP/copper wanting 2-line service. I will be returning it to Amazon and look for a Panasonic locally.
