Best 3G nano case out there September 26, 2008 Of all the 3G nano cases I've seen, this is the best.
- Removable clip is sturdy and reliable. - Case fully protects your iPod (including screen) - Rubber seal on bottom keeps debris out of your nano - Sliding latch on side makes case easy to open, makes cleaning easy - Lets your iPod's true color show through
There is a black border around this one, but there is also a clear-border version: Contour Design iSee Case for iPod nano 3G (Clear) I think the black border version looks best with the black nano.
A couple of things to be aware of: The placement of the clip, while practical from a design standpoint, will block the engraved text if you have a custom engraving on your iPod.
Like most iPod cases, it is not meant to be dockable - although it might dock in some circumstances. Still, you can easily access the dock connector port by opening the plug on the bottom.
The rubber plug on the bottom has two parts - one that plugs the dock connector port and one that plugs the headphone jack when headphones are not plugged in. When headphones are plugged in however (most of the time!) this is a nuisance. As a reviewer on Apple.com suggested, cut off the headphone plug part and it will no longer get in the way. So it's there if you want it, and if you don't just clip it off.
There is a click wheel protector included as well but it is useless because it doesn't stay in place and it inhibits the use of your wheel. You can throw it away. You don't need it anyway because the way the case is designed the wheel is not protruding enough to make it susceptible to damage.
So there you have it. With a slight bit of modification, the ideal iPod nano case.
Garbage September 20, 2008 Bought this based on the 1 glowing review but was very disappointed with this case.
The plastic is that very cheap quality hard plastic that easily scratches (had some even when first taken from the box.) The bottom rubber cover, supposedly to project the ipod's ports/headset broke off the first time I opened the case to put my new ipod inside. The silicon cover for the click wheel was too small to cover the whole wheel so does a bad job at protecting it and looks terrible as well, not clear but a dirty grey color.
Overall, this thing is utter junk and I can't stress enough to avoid it at all costs. Just toss your money out the nearest window instead of buying this and you'll be better off.
Well made Showcase Nano V3 case February 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This case was designed in fact for the 3rd generation 4 GB and 8 GB iPod Nano by Contour Design, and designed well I might add. This dual-layer hard shell case is clear on both front (does cover the screen) and back (with a clip attachment that can be easily swiveled to remove, but locks into any position every 90 degrees, or just replaced with a slim cap that covers the clip attachment holes if not wanting to use the clip) to show off the color of your nano with black rubber bumpers that surround the outside of the case. It also has a flexible black rubber hinged cover for the lock/unlock, sync docking port, and headphone jack area, allowing easy access to them while leaving the rest of the bottom covered. The silicone scroll wheel cover can be used or removed, depending on your patience with using it to scroll through your selections. Overall, this is a great case, slim, but would need to removed to dock onto speaker docks/charging docks if you use them, though removal of this one is quite easy. Maybe the only real downside other than as with most clear cases they eventually scratch, is that the bottom portion, while protecting, does not entirely cover to keep dust out. But I would think you would be removing this case to wipe clean your iPod Nano 3G, charge or play on dock as needed anyway.
