It would be pretty cool if it worked. November 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We'd installed the software for this printer on some older XP machines. We'd constantly get the 'can't find network' popup even though our network is solid. So I installed it on my new Vista computer and same problem. Annoying but not a total deal breaker.
Then I started getting popups saying that smart web printing was having problems. Then every time I tried to navigate a web page the cursor would change and I would not have any control over my computer. So I tried uninstalling smart web printing. That deleted all of the icons on my desktop except for my recycle bin and also deleted all of my quick launch icons. So I did a system restore but that didn't help. Then I tried uninstalling the myriad of HP programs that auto-install (no general uninstall option given...thanks HP.) All but 2 uninstalled, the smart web printing and HP "solution" center. In short, I now do not have control over my brand new computer. HP does. This is criminal in my opinion as I did not authorize them to do this. I just wanted to install the software that I paid for.
Avoid this printer and avoid all HP printers and products. When you think of HP, think of Sony rootkits. It's about the same.
Used HP my entire life... Think again with this purchase. October 27, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This printer works, and that's about it. The print quality isn't much better than an older printer I had (3 years older than this) and it guzzles ink (Think really big SUV). I constantly have to replace ink cartridges, even when im not printing! Every time I turn this printer on it does a really loud song and dance for several MINUTES "cleaning the cartridge heads" (which I believe it's really just throwing my ink away or something). Never had such issues before. In addition to the ink issues and other annoying issues; whenever the ink begins to run out (which is extremely often) it gives 10-20 warnings before you can continue printing. Sometime it wont even let you print. Just for public info, I do NOT do much printing. Maybe 20 pages a month averaged out. This printer is ridiculous enough to make me (a non-frequent-reviewer) want to warn others. I feel ripped off. These $10 ink cartridges contain ink in the range of 0.1 ounce to 2 ounces. So cheap, wouldn't cost them much more to give a decent amount. My pen has more than that.
Great price, great printer October 21, 2008 I bought this printer to replace an Epson that I hated from the day I bought it five years ago. Pros: prints great photos, easy to use, individual ink colors can be replaced, generic ink can be used, has a special 4x6 photo paper slot, large screen with directions, automatic red-eye removal with a push of a button, paper doesn't jam, ink doesn't have to constantly recharge, great price. Cons: none.
Don't Buy HP D7460 Printer if you expect HP support October 17, 2008 I purchased the HP D7460 printer and when I couldn't get it to work wireless I contacted HP Customer No-Service and was lied too multiple times that HELP was 2 to 3 business days away. Finally 11 business days, 15 calendar days, I received a possible solution. I had returned the printer to Amazon about 2 hours before I received the possible solution.
I will not buy another HP product due too poor customer service.

No surprises October 15, 2008 Purchased for two special reasons: looking for a wireless network printer and one that can handle greeeting card stock. It meets both requirements well.
POSITIVES: It is fast and colors are accurate. Ink buckets seem to be massive (and COSTCO is stocking a set of extra large HP brand ink buckets that are not available anywhere else).
NEGATIVES: HP (in standard install) seems to load up a lot of supplemental applications that just complicate matters unless you are TOTALLY aligining with printing on this printer only and want to work with all kinds of HP tools. I just want this printer for specialized uses. My Epson does 80% of my work, and I prefer to use my own utilities and supporting applications. Carefully consider your options when doing the initial install. Paper supply tray has small capacity. I haven't measured, but maybe 30-50 sheets max. You won't change ink more than once every few months with moderate use, but you will probably have to tend the paper tray daily!
