Amazon.com Product Description Garmin's nuevi 200W combines the thin profile and attractive price point of other nuevi 200-series GPS with and a beautiful 4.3-inch (diagonally) wide touchscreen that lets you see more of what's around you as you drive. As with all nuevis, you get Garmin reliability, the fast satellite lock of a high-sensitivity integrated receiver, a slim, pocket-sized navigator with a gorgeous display, detailed NAVTEQ maps that lets you search by name for more than 6 million points of interest like stores, restaurants or hospitals, and an easy, intuitive interface. Also, the device itself is larger, meaning controls on the screen are more widely spaced and somewhat easier to push. Smart, Powerful Design nuevi is built with a high-sensitivity GPS receiver for extreme accuracy, as well as an SD card slot for storing your media and additional navigation tools, and a USB interface for loading data. All this is wrapped up in a package that measures 4.8 x 2.9 x 0.8 inches (W x H x D) and weighs just 6.6 ounces. The nuevi display is touchscreen-enabled, making it a cinch to control the device with your fingertips. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to five hours of battery life depending on use. Garmin Lock Garmin's patent pending theft prevention system that disables the unit from performing any functions until the user types in a specific 4-digit PIN or takes the unit to a predetermined secure location First Rate Map Data nuevi comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator NT street maps for the continental United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico, including a hefty database of more than 6 milliong points of interest (POIs), such as hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more, that are searchable by name or category. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and nuevi takes you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. Garmin gets its map data from NAVTEQ, a world leader in premium-quality mapping. In addition, the nuevi accepts custom (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs Important note about map updates: Due to our high volume of sales, almost every Garmin portable GPS navigator sold by Amazon.com will come with the most recent map version. Good for the price November 16, 2008 I am a big fan of Garmin GPS and this was a good purchase. The wide screen give more room for information and the receiver acquires satelites quickly.

Can't Locate Satellite November 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had zero luck with the Nuvi 200W; I sent it back for repairs twice because it would work for a while and then I would get the message, 'cannot locate satellite' and it would take anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes to find a satellite and then it would lose it again. I was ready to send the 200W back for its THIRD repair when I decided to write to Garmin's CEO, Min Kao, in Olathe, Kansas. I explained my 'repair history' on the 200W and he was very cooperative and set up an exchange for me. He let me upgrade to the Nuvi 205W for no charge and so far, the 205W has been working great. I would give the Nuvi 200W zero stars but I would give Garmin's CEO, Min Kao, a five star rating.
Great GPS October 30, 2008 Paid [...] @ Sam's Club in October 2008 for Garmin Nuvi 200W. I love the larger screen. The GPS quickly finds satellites, and takes you anywhere you want to go. I think the photo viewer is kinda lame. If you want to download new vehicles from [...] you will need to supply your own USB cable. No directions are included the Nuvi. Itis so intuitive, and easy to use you don't need directions. The screen is very clear and easy to see, even in direct sunlight. The voice prompts are also very clear and easy to hear. I would recommend this GPS to anyone.
more direct than a map, easier to follow, and it brings you back home October 19, 2008 To repeat: It's better than a map, easier to read and listen to, and it gets you back home!!!
