4 out of 5 stars SD Class Specs   June 20, 2008

Disclaimer:I have not purchased this card, but I just wanted to let everyone know what the speed classes are for SD/SDHC cards:

Class 2 = Min. write speed of 2MBps or higher
Class 4 = Min. write speed of 4MBps or higher
Class 6 = Min. write speed of 6MBps or higher

All of these speeds are based on an empty card (no memory units occupied)

4 out of 5 stars Class 4 > Class 2   March 18, 2008

DISCLAIMER: I don't own this product. I read Steve Carmeli's review that sated he bought this looking for a Class 2, and this is a Class 4 and therefore slower. He must be confused or have made a typo because a Class 4 is better than a Class 2. I just noticed under "Technical Details" for this item that it has the specifications of a Class 2, but you can see on the picture of the item itself that it is a Class 4. I know the write speed of Class 2 is up to 5MB/sec, and Class 6 is sustained 20MB/sec, so I would imagine a Class 4 is 10MB/sec (up to or sustained I don't know, probably depends on the quality of the card rather than the Class).

30-75sec to store a picture is NOT normal, and is either a defect in the SD card or his camera. If his camera is incredibly old it could be that, but it is not normal for any SD card to take that long, period, unless taking a 20 megapixel photo onto a class 2, and even then it wouldn't take that long.

3 out of 5 stars A little slow   January 14, 2008

I purchased this Class 4 card thinking it was a Class 2 because it said "High Speed." Now, I don't know whether my Kodak Z712 IS is slow or this memory card is slow, but I tend to suspect the latter. Make no mistake, you will notice the time it takes to store a picture. We're talking about 30-75 seconds depending on the megapixel setting you select on your camera. This could mean lost pictures as you wait for your camera to cycle. Spend a few extra buck and go for a video-class, class 2 memory card. Mind you, their tech support insists there's no difference, but I'm not persuaded.

5 out of 5 stars WOW! What a difference!   November 27, 2007

You can forget missing as many pictures as you did with your old memory card! The speed on this was refreshing after missing many pictures due to slow write speed of other cards I've had. It will STILL operate slower with the flas than without but not because of the card. I have a Cannon Digital Elph and this was a great combination for recreational picture taking!
