Problem with merchandise July 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had nothing but problems with my computer since putting this new battery in it. It won't hold a charge at all, I don't know if the battery is old or what the deal is but I'm very disappointed.
Replacement Battery works great August 31, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This battery was at a decent price and worked great.
I have had my Dell laptop for several years. It was about the right time to have the battery replaced.
This replacement plugged in and I now have the laptop working with the same battery life it had when I bought it. (Remember that any PCMCIA and USB cards you plug in may drain battery so pull them if you are not using them).
=============== Note: This is a bit of info for those frustrated by an old battery just quitting on them: it's not a corporate conspiracy, there's a reason...
The way litium ion batteries work, they have multiple "cells" and the lithium battery will provide the full voltage to run the unit even as cells get old and fail.
The cells will only hold a certain number of charges (I don't know why, but I have read that this is just a part of how lit-ion cells chemically work). Once you have charged them beyond their chemical capacity, they won't hold a charge anymore.
Once too many of the cells have failed the battery has a circuit built in that keeps it from running even though it may run the laptop for a little while. The circuit is trying to keep the battery from overheating (from one cell doing all the work) and causing a harmful situation. So if your battery gets old, just replace it. =========
This was the best price I found for a genuine replacement. I found other sites that had what they called compatible and then after reading some feedback, found that the batteries were not always compatible for my Inspiron 8200.
Do not purchase from this company. August 7, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The battery worked for about 1.5 weeks. Then it began to hold less and less of a charge. The battery did not come with a manual so I checked out the manufacturer's site which indicated that the battery needed to be fully discharged several time before it would operate at peak performance. After several discharges the battery now produces power for about 10 minutes. After the 30 day return through amazon period had expired I sought to return the battery directly with Battery-Biz. The requested, after I finally got to speak to a manager, that I get the PO that amazon used to purchase the battery from them. Amazon CS does not have this info. Amazon was kind enough to offer me a full refund, but nonetheless, I would not purchase from Battery-Biz again.
