 Be Forewarned! This might not be the product you need! Only 70 Watts. June 6, 2008
Ordered the PA-9 as a replacement for the PA-9 AC Adapter that I used with my Dell Inspiron 5100. Everything looked to be the same. But when I started up my computer I discovered this AC Adapter is ONLY A 70 Watt supply.
If you, like me, need a 90 Watt AC Adapter - THIS IS NOT IT.
This IS a "Made in China" replacement, that doesn't say what its power output is. But it claims to be a "PA-9Family" AC Adapter with 20V and 4.5A output. It did come with a handy rip-tie for the cable that can be reused when it needs to be packed up. And the connection that plugs into the laptop has a nice and snug fit... it's not going to just slip out on its own.
Regarding shipping/handling. I ordered early Monday morning and paid for expedited S/H. It wasn't until Wednesday that I was able to discover that it shipped out late Tuesday afternoon via USPS. Thankfully, it was sent Priority Mail, so I actually received it on Thursday. (Post Office did a GREAT job of making it a Priority!) Expedited shipping should mean it at least goes out within 24 hours if not the same day. Especially when the order comes in early in the morning. If you're going to be slow in handling, don't make false offers of working faster.

Do not buy this based on visual description alone. It looks like the old PA-9 adapters that were compadible with the Dell inspiron 1100 laptops, but it isn't. It will cause the BIOS screen to appear when booting up.

I am very careful with my expensive electronic equipment. Despite my care, the original Dell power adapter broke at the end due to what I feel (as do many others) is a poorly designed plug.
Having to buy a replacement due to the product's design makes it difficult to rate. Do you give it a 1 for being poorly designed when it deserves a 5 for being OK for its intended purpose until it breaks? Since the product seems to need periodic replacement (by design) and since you have to buy a proprietary Dell product, I can not warrant rating this a 5.

This Dell PA-9 AC power adapter was exactly what I was looking for at a fraction of the price quoted me from Dell. Works exceptionally well and was delivered on time. An excellent replacement for Dell PA-6 P/N 9364U. Highly recommended!
