5 out of 5 stars Great product; exactly what I was looking for at amazing price   September 21, 2008

These headphones are great! I'm a college student, so I was looking for an affordable pair of noise canceling headphones, and I got exactly that. I only paid $30, but these headphones fulfill the same functions as a pair of $300 headphones. They only require 1 AAA battery which is actually included in the package. Even without the noise canceling option turned out, the headphones do a very good job blocking out outside noise. The sound quality is also fantastic; with high-quality bass, etc. They are adaptable to the normal outlet as well as the 2-prong outlets you find on airplanes. Also, you are able to fold them up; and they come with a carrying case. The ear part is very comfortable, not putting too much pressure on your ears, and adapting to heads of different shapes and sizes.

Pretty much, I am extremely pleased. Thank you, Kensington!

5 out of 5 stars And it's Really Compact as well as doing what the name says   August 8, 2008
There are already some excellent reviews here that I don't need to repeat. I have previously bought two other noise cancelling headphone sets that cost a lot more than the Kensington. They were both of the full-cup design that totally encloses your ears, good for accomplishing the noise cancelling process, but big and bulky. That is not at all desirable on airplanes anytime and even moreso now. In fact, that was largely the reason for the loss of the first and most expensive set. The plane hit a bump at the moment I was trying to levitate out of my seat with the big clumsy headphones in one hand and hanging on with the other. I landed on the seat on top of them. The Kensington folds up small and can be safely tucked away. Two years ago, when I saw the Kensington headphones at such a reasonable price, I couldn't resist and have not been disappointed. They pack into my laptop computer bag which makes them even more useful.

They are lightweight and comfortable to wear in almost any position. I feel the noise cancelling function is equal to any other I have tried. I don't believe ANY consumer grade headphones exist that cancel across the whole sound spectrum. That would be something for the laboratory, not an airplane. These are very effective where it counts.

Would I recommend them? I just did. Today, a friend asked my opinion and this is what I told him, so I thought should post it here also.

3 out of 5 stars Works As Advertised   June 20, 2008

I needed a pair of headphones that I could use on airplanes that would actually allow me to hear what was playing. To that end these work as advertised. The ear cups are comfortable (wore them for over 3 hours in-flight). I could hear the movie I was watching while the drone of the plane's engines faded into the background.
Some may complain about the sound quality, bass, frequency response and such. To them I say go ahead and spend the extra money (A lot of extra money). For the majority of users these will work just fine. Great value for the money

2 out of 5 stars you get what you pay for   May 5, 2008
I own both these and the Sennheiser pxc300's. The Sennheisers win hands down, The Sennheisers also cost about 7 times as much. These Kensingtons are much larger and cover more of the ears, but nowhere near the noise-killing quality of the others. (but the price is also much less) These kill a little bit of noise, but they introduce a hiss.. basically, it is like turning Dolby NR off and hearing the hiss (if you remember those days). I will use these around the house to watch vids on my machine, but when I am sitting in the back row of a MD80 next to a P&W..I am not gonna use these. No problems with weight or comfort. Sound is good enough. Cellular interference is awful. So.. were they worth the price? yeah, but not too functional as noisekillers.

1 out of 5 stars Very poor reliability   April 30, 2008

These are not at all reliable.
These sound bad too, they just add a hiss and boost the sound thats all.
