Product Description Compex's WavePort-WL11 is an 11Mbps Wireless LAN Card compliant with IEEE 802.11 and 802.11b DSSS (Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum) standard. It utilizes the 2.4GHz ISM band compliant with FCC (USA) - 11 channels, ETSI (Europe) - 13 channels, and MKK (Japan) - 14 channels. It supports air transmission rate of 11Mbps and 5.5Mbps, and backward compatible with the older 1Mbps and 2Mbps standards. WavePort-WL11 comes with a built-in antenna, supporting reliable radio transmission of up 200 meters in an open environment. Designed with the minimum operational overhead, WavePort-WL11 is capable of achieving a throughput of 3.8-4.0Mbps. With the use of "chipping code", WavePort-WL11 is able to recover the data in the case of data corruption. In addition, it ensures data security and privacy with the use of a 64-bit or 128-bit (selectable) RC4 private encryption key. This high-speed wireless LAN Card supports two types of wireless LAN architecture, among wireless clients (Ad-Hoc Architecture) and between wireless LAN clients and Access Points (Infrastructure Architecture). To ensure minimum power consumption, WavePort-WL11 is designed with a 3.3V PCMCIA interface, consuming as low as 20mA of current at standby mode. Accessory such as PCI/PCMCIA converter is also available to provide wireless connectivity for desktop computers. WavePort-WL11 is fully Plug-N-Play and supported by the popular operating systems such as Windows 95/98, NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and even Linux operating system. Compex's WavePort-WL11 increases the mobility and reduces the cost of network implementation while retaining data integrity and privacy.

Work fine. Installing the drive is a hassle. January 18, 2007 Work fine. Drop connection on the occasion. Just don't like the fact that I need to install the driver since it's not automatically recognized by Windows XP. Don't loose the driver CD.
This thing really sucks September 17, 2004 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this one because it's cheap, then the price really tells the story. It took me whole 2 hours trying to figure out the stupid Config. utilities, still wouldn't connect with my Netgear router. Changed to a netgear adaptor, up and running in 5 minutes. In the process of returning this useless toy.
Quick, easy, portable, fast, great range, it's perfect! August 30, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Though only a 802.11b, this little USB wireless adapter is the best out there. I spend about $35 for it 1/2 year ago, and basically bought it without any prior reviews information. Lucky me, this lightweight, portable USB adapter works like a charm. Install the drivers in XP after it's plugged in, and you're up and running.
Even has Linux drivers and support! (I haven't tried this yet though).
This is the best thing you can buy for under $50. Great for laptops too!
Pretty good August 12, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Only problem I have with this is when coming out of hibernation it often needs to be unplugged and plugged in again in order for it to aquire. Otherwise quite happy with it.
Great product, great range, great price May 7, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Even though instructions say that product is plug n play with windows xp, you still need to install usb xp drivers from the included disk. This took me about 5 minutes to figure out and setup. I was surfing the net wirelessly from another room in no time. Range is better than the average wireless card (802.11b).
