Amazon Product Review
If you're sold on the idea of a webcam but can't financially justify the expense of a top of the line model, Ezonics has the answer with its Ezonics Mini Cam webcam. Though it doesn't sport a truly advanced feature set, the Ezonics Mini Cam does deliver the webcam experience for a fraction of the price of some competing models.

What can you do with a webcam? You can communicate visually with your friends and associates. You can set up a security monitoring system. Or you can just have fun with it, broadcasting images of your coffee pot or your dog to your webpage or over the Internet. The virtual possibilities are virtually endless!

Clamping to the top of your monitor or any other convenient surface, the Ezonics Mini Cam features 24-bit color, an adequately clean 352 by 288 resolution, and a maximum 30 frames per second shutter speed. It automatically adjusts exposure and white balance, and allows you to focus manually or take single snapshots. And its bright LED will always keep you alerted to its current operational state.

However, there are trade-offs for such affordability. The unit does not offer an integrated microphone or cordless connection. Its images are not as smooth and detailed as those of more costly models, and it utilizes traditional USB 1.1 computer interface technology rather than the new and far faster USB 2.0. Nevertheless, the Ezonics Mini Cam is an extremely cost effective introduction to the world of webcams. You may even find it's all the webcam you ever need.

Product Description
The Ezonics EZ Mini-Cam is the newest and smallest webcam! It's extremely versatile! It can be used on notebooks or desktops. It can clip onto notebook screens, sit traditionally on the desk-top or even sit on-top of your CRT or LCD monitor! Sharp image quality up to 30 frames per second! You can even take quick snap shots with the snap shot button! It's compatible with Yahoo IM, MSN Messenger and other popular instant messaging services. EZ to install and perfect for video chatting with friends and family!

4 out of 5 stars Low quality image, but works okay.   February 17, 2005

I purchased this webcam to play around with, not for anything serious. I use it a little for Yahoo Messenger and also to take quick grabs in Photoshop. The image is small, grainy, and slow to update, but it works just fine for my purposes in Yahoo Messenger, where I'm not going to have a very high quality image anyway. The image looks a lot better if the room is well lit, so it might not be worthwhile if you're trying to use it in a darkened room. Artifacts appear on the image even in good light, but faces are quite recognizable. The software that comes with the webcam is mostly junk that I don't recommend installing, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that it supports image captures via the TWAIN interface in Photoshop. The low quality of the images can actually make them fun for some things. The clip that is supposed to secure the webcam is only useful for laptops or thin LCD panels. It won't even come close to fitting my Viewsonic LCD that's about 2-inches thick. That means I have to perch it at the top, which is precarious. The base is weighted slightly, but the webcam has already fallen several times, without apparent harm. The webcam is sort of cute -- looks like a movie robot. It may need to be plugged directly into a USB port or powered hub -- my unpowered hub didn't have enough juice for it. The webcam came with a separate microphone, which I didn't expect. I haven't tried it. Overall, if you want a webcam to use for playing around in a well lit room and don't require a high quality image, this webcam is cheap solution that worked fine for me. The image quality is low, but that's all I needed and all I was willing to pay for. I do wish it had a better base for attaching to thicker perches. Tested with Windows 98SE.

I just bought this item after seeing previous comments. But this camera is aweful. Just waste of money. Produces horrible video 90% not clear. I can't see myself. buy a better product for little extra money. Worst possible picture.
