Easy to use October 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have wanted a labeling device for some time and always thought of them as plastic strips with pressed letters. These labels are great and so easy to make. I choose this one as it comes with an ac adapter which is about another $30 dollars for the ones without. At $45 it was less than a $20 labeler plus adpater. As other reviewers state, the machine is the cheap part, the tape is the expensive part. Check the cutting settings so you don't waste tape. I have not used the software that comes with this as those capibilities at this time exceed my needs. I leave it plugged in and it is reay to go. After a short period of non-use it goes to sleep. I am using the labels for cords and transfomers around my computer, labeling items, and will soon use them on file folders. At that time I may find uses for the software. All yo do is type in your info, if you need more than one line hit enter. Easy preview. You just have to remember to hit enter after every entry in the menu. The info remains so you can print it again or easily clear. I recommend it.
Great Tool September 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Brother PT-2100 PC-Connectable Labeling System with AC adapter What a great purchase. I am in the process of sorting & labeling everything that has gathered in my garage for a number of years. This labeler is easy to use and I have had no problems as yet with it. I had 2 old hand labelers that just were too much hassle to use. I just take my PT-2100 to the garage with me,plug it in,and I am ready to roll.A must-have for organizing.
Not So Good Label Maker September 5, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having trouble with the Brother label maker software to print on my PC computer, I had called Brother tech supports several times but they asked me to reinstall the print driver. After the reinstallation, it's still refused to print. The computer said it refused to print because there was not enough spool to print the document. Tech service said he would contact me on the phone to help me out, but he never did. After a long troubleshooting the program software, I finally figured it out. The quality of the label maker printing is very bad because the printed types are not smooth but very rough looking. When the types are compressed and reduced to 7 point or less, they are very difficult and hard to read. It is not good for professional presentations. If I knew this, I would not buy it. If you print one label at a time, you will waste paper, so that, it is better to print several labels at a time. I had never figured out why the machine had to cut an extra inch off before it started to print. Maybe they programmed it to waste more tape. Label tapes are expensive. This label maker does not come with an USB cable. It uses 6 AA batteries.
CONS.: Expensive label tapes, waste label at beginning of printing, no USB cable, difficult to install software to communication with computer, PC users ONLY not for MAC, Lettering around the C or the O is very rough looking, and it can not accept 1" tape.
PROS.: Easy to peel, flexible and durable tapes, good designed unit.

We just got this yesterday so I can't really give an expert view, I just know I could use it immediately without reading the manual which I hate so much. I hope to spend many useful days with it and finally organize my bills, contracts and receipts with professional looking stickers.
