Product Description The last magical season with Jeannie! The mayhem continues when Jeannie has to choose between being Tonys wife or being the queen of a country. Against Tonys wishes, Roger and Dr. Bellows plan a bachelor party for him. At the wedding, Jeannie and Tony try to figure out how to avoid photos since genies dont show up in pictures.
Amazon.com The most beloved midriff on television finally went off the air, but the last season of I Dream of Jeannie was just as enjoyably silly as ever. Ever-helpful and virtually all-powerful Jeannie (Barbara Eden) turn her beloved astronaut Tony Nelson (Larry Hagman) into a concert pianist and a pool shark; a magic cream turns Mrs. Bellows (Emmaline Henry) into a completely different woman; magic dog Djinn Djinn and his "wife" are about to have puppies, but everyone thinks it's Jeannie who's pregnant; when a hotel is full, Jeannie gives it a new floor. But of course the big event of this season is the wedding: Tony and Jeannie finally get married, thus domesticating the show's classic male fantasy... though truly, there's no more hint of sex between the leads after the wedding than there was before it. In fact, it's surprising the show began to lose popularity; there's practically no difference between stand-alone episodes before the wedding and after it. The most enjoyable episodes of the fifth season are actually the ones setting up the wedding, which give the show a sense of momentum and richer character relationships that standard episodes, fun though they may be, usually lack. Mind you, this is still I Dream of Jeannie, not Six Feet Under--Tony's decision to marry Jeannie after resisting for so long happens without much soul-searching--but it still adds just a hint of narrative depth. Other pleasures this season include Eden's parade of groovy short-skirted outfits; brief supporting appearances by Farrah Fawcett, Dick Van Patten, and others; and the ever-dependable weaselly behavior of Roger (the ever-dependably great Bill Dailey), the show's crucial ingredient. I Dream of Jeannie was never a groundbreaking sitcom like Roseanne or Seinfield; it had a goofy but clear premise and mined it for predictable but also dependable humor. For fans, all five seasons will reward their devotion. --Bret Fetzer

I Dream of Jeannie The Complete Fifth Season August 16, 2008 This is a great show and it was sent to me in a very timely manner
Great show! Episodes are NOT COMPLETE! July 19, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I love I Dream of Jeannie - always have, always will. I've faithfully been collecting all of the seasons and eagerly purchased the long-awaited final season. Imagine my dissappointment though to find that the episodes are missing scenes and are not complete. Several scenes I recall seeing when I was a kid and even in syndicated reruns are blatently missing here. Have to admit, I feel cheated. I still gave a 4-star review because of how much I love the show - but it should have been 5 stars and isn't because The makers of this DVD package didn't take care to give us the original-broadcast length episodes!

Most folk's buying this show already know what it's about... This review is of the release it's self.
The complete and final 24 show's for the fith and final season are packged here.
The set comes in two slim cases with two single sided disc's in each case, each case has a mini summary of each episode on the back .
The "extra's", arn't much , included are a Fantasy Island ( Rouges and Riches)episode and a Bewitched (Junior Executive )episode, I would much rather have had the bonsus's been about the show(as all the main cast -Hayden Rourke are still living).
Personally I really enjoyed watching these episodes, even though it was the last season the show still had plenty of "steam" for a few more seasons. Too bad non of the tv movies were included . The show can be heard in-Englih, Spanish,Portugese. Subtitles- Spanish and Portuges(English subtitles, you ask ? Nope...I though that was odd.
If you have season's 1-4 , season 5 should complete your "wish" to own this great show .
Great series July 8, 2008 Thank you Sony for completing this series. Loved the series as a kid. I still love it as an adult. Now I have planty to watch when all TV has on is "reality" shows. By the way, it is on sell at Walmart for $19.99.
Another great season June 23, 2008 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
I have not seen as many episodes of the later seasons of Jeannie so I am really exited about this last season being made available. Of course I have all of the seasons, have watched them a dozen times so I am really anxious to catch some of the episodes that I have never seen. I remember seeing the wedding episode and how wonderful it really was to see Jeannie and Tony get married. I have watched all of Seasons 1-4 so many times now, I have episodes memorized.
The show in general had some minor drawbacks, which kept it from being perfect.. One thing was that Jeannie could not be shown in a photogragh but she was in the newspaper in season 4 and then we she got married she tried to hide from the camera because Jeannie's cannot be photograghed. Also after Jeannie was to be married as it talked about in season 4 she was not suppose to be able to have her powers after she gets married and would lose all her powers but she still does after her and Tony get married in season 5. There are so many others flaws also.
Like remember the time Mr's Bellows met Jeannie when she thought her and Tony were married and the other times that Dr Bellows has met Jeannie. Dr Bellows had actually saw Jeannie so many times previously and then when they get married you kind of think wouldn't he recognise her if he had seen her before so many times. Once in the car at the office, another time at the office when she played the secretary and once at Major Nelsons house, then again when Mr's Bellows thought that her and Tony were married and then again when they actually did get married and that is just a few times I can remember. Watching them all the first time over I did not realize all of this, you really have to watch it a lot to notice everything.
The writing could have been better. I loved the episodes and think that they are all funny but they had a potential to be better! Major Nelson's character is hillarious. I loved the time he flipped out of bed and so many other times he got mad at jeannie or even when he acted as a different character. He is truly a supurb acter and really what made the show sooo great in my opinion. Barbera Eden of course did a great job as well. I think that they could have made it even funnier but they didn't. Being a huge fan of the show I am not trying to put it down. It is definitely better then any of today's garbage and a treasure to own so I highly recommend buying season 5 on DVD. I also like that Tony and Jeannie actually did get married because it was what the series was based on. I remember as a little girl hoping and hoping that they would get married on each and every episode that I watched. You have to admit that they had great chemistry together and what a match and perfect couple.
Also some more things I don't understand about why Jeannie still used her bottle after they were married and also some of the writing and directing is Mediocre and I am not sure of his name but he played cousin Arthur in Bewitched. He played in like 3-4 back to back episodes in I dream of Jeannie as a different character in each episode that he played. He played a director and then I remember he played the tax man. When Jeannie blinked up all of those expensive priceless items in Season 4 as he played the tax guy and Major Nelson was going to be in trouble for not claiming the items on his taxes. I would have understood it if they would have spaced his character out on the different episodes of Season 4. I think Season 5 has some better writing, you could tell that they were running out of ideas though and the show had to come to an end and 5 seasons was just PERFECT for the show.
All in all there are some great episodes on this season as well as all of the seasons. If you are a fan you will definitely watch these over and over again! I am rating it 5 stars because of the great price, the remastering quality of the DVD's and wonderful clear picture and great episodes for a great show. The only thing that I would have changed is to add more features. All of the seasons do not have any features or behind the scenes footage. We would like to see the magic of the show and how it worked but they have not included it with the DVD's yet. Maybe later with a seperate disc Sony will come up with something to add with a completed series. Maybe they could add the I Dream of Jeannie movie in also, even though it is mediocre it is still worth a watch.
You definitely do not want to miss out on this season. It is a treasure to own and Amazon has a great price with FREE Super Saver Shipping. I always order my items from Amazon because they ship super fast and the items are at a low cost with free shipping. I have never had a problem ordering from Amazon, all items have arrived in perfect shape and I look foward to receiving my DVD's in the mail. If you buy them in the store you will usually pay more and also have to wait a few months before it will even get to the store. I will be looking foward to popping this set in the dvd player and getting some great laughter from these wonderful episodes.. Plus I like that Amazon does not charge your credit card until the item ships, that takes some worry away also. I Dream of Jeannie is in my top 5 greatest shows of all time. I think my favourites are I love Lucy, Andy Griffith, Bewitched, I Dream Of Jeannie and so on. It is highly recommended to buy this set and enjoy it for several years and may your kids get much use from the episodes also. Posted below is the complete episode list from this season. Enjoy!!
