Product Description A thirty-something sex columnist and her three single friends examine relationships and sexual roles in New York City. Genre: Television: HBO Rating: NR Release Date: 18-MAY-2004 Media Type: DVD
Amazon.com After a long wait--like the entire fifth season--Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) is dating again. The sixth season of the popular HBO show starts with Carrie and her sparkly new potential, Berger (Ron Livingston), trying to leave past relationships and hit it off. The results are mixed (up to Berger's memorable exit), but the good news is Carrie is at it again, and a new love interest can be found in the member of a wedding party, an old high school flame (David Duchovny), or an ueber-famous painter (Mikhail Baryshnikov). As Carrie plays the field, her friends seem to be settling down, relatively speaking. Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) decides that her affair with TiVo cannot compete when Mr. Perfect (Blair Underwood, at his most charming) moves into her building. Charlotte's (Kristin Davis) feelings for her "opposites attract" boyfriend (Evan Handler, perhaps fans' most-loved boyfriend) deepen, but they still have a few things to iron out. Most surprising is Samantha's (Kim Cattrall) hot relationship with waiter-actor-stud Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis) taking on something resembling love, despite Samantha's best intentions. Before the sixth season started in the summer of 2003, a bombshell hit: it was announced that this would be the finale. Fans, just getting over the truncated fifth season (due to half the cast getting pregnant), were beside themselves. But it would be a long season, and these 12 episodes plant the seeds for the final 8 airing the following winter. These dozen episodes illustrate the maturity of the show: there's not a bad one in the bunch, with things like old flames Mr. Big (Chris Noth), and Steve (David Eigenberg) popping in with deeper resiliency. And the show is still flat-out funny. Berger is the most intrinsically humorous of Carrie's beaus (his introduction to Prada is a classic), Jarrod's earnest streak on Samantha gets her flabbergasted in the giddiest ways, and Charlotte's attempt to convert to Judaism is right in character. The touchstone episode is "A Woman's Right to Shoes," in which Carrie loses her prized and expensive Manolo Blahniks at a party. The comedy blends serious points of how we perceive singles, couples, and parents (and the gifts we lavish on the latter two). Carrie's method of celebrating her singlehood is just another gem in this treasure of a series. --Doug Thomas

Six & the City, Volume One June 4, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Season Six Volume 1 is quite a jam-packed treat. With some of the best episodes from the entire series and some of the strangest cameos, too, this season is a must for those who love new men, serial daters, and awkward humor!
"The Post-it Always Sticks Twice" is the best episode ever, in the entire series! But this first volume finished strong with "A Woman's Right to Shoes," which takes me back to the original Bushnell articles that started it all (plus Tatum O'Neal!?! & the best pair of shoes!) and the very intriguing "One."
This volume starts all of the women on new paths in life, making it difficult to believe this is the beginning of the end ...
A must own for the "Post-it" episode.

Sex and the City - Season Six Part I is excellent but hey what's worth dividing the last season into two parts? Nice marketing move HBO! Anyway season six really hits a home run for me. The writing, acting, and growth of each character is at its finest. Only twelve episodes but they are brilliant, heartwarming, and of course hilarious. Some of the standout episodes: To Market To Market, Pick-a-Little, Talk-a-Little, The Post-it Always Sticks Twice, and One. You'd think a show so hyped up when be overrated, but it is not, it's creative and groundbreaking. I highly recommend it!
SOME PEOPLE SAY OVERPRICED, I SAY PRICELESS November 22, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is probably my favorite season, I loved the paring of Samantha and Smith, some might say how can a woman her age get, what could possible be the hottest man on earth..but i say, Samantha is so sexy and unique, she could pull it off, I bought it. I also liked that the writers brought Berger back, and I liked the romance he and Carrie had, as for Charlotte, she was always my least favorite character, probably because ive been around women like her my whole life, started with Mom..it was good she landed a rich lawyer, and her conversion to the faith was funny, so her..yes she over looked Harry's hidieousness, but if he had not been rich and successful, she would never have given him the time of day..thats our Char..I always liked when the writers brought back Stanford and Anthony, they were both very funny..as for my favorite character Miranda, I loved that she and Steve where happy, she is the most authentic character and by far the best actress on the show, just go back and watch the episode when her mom dies..it was heartbreaking. Of course, id recommend buying any of the series, but this season is especially strong..but if you really love the series, just buy the box set..it's great.
