 Logitech QuickCam Pro for Notebooks May 12, 2008
I've had the Logitech QuickCam Pro for Notebooks for several months now and it works great! Provides an excellent picture and sound. Also shows you a live picture of yourself so you know if you are staying in the center of the picture. Well worth the additional price.
 I wanted to like it but... May 11, 2008
I wanted to upgrade a very old logitech webcam. I read lots of reviews and thought this one would be perfect. I installed it (following all the directions), and it seemed to work great, until a few hours later when my screensaver froze and I had to manually shut down my laptop.
When I tried to restart my computer it crashed! I unplugged all usb ports and let it rest a few minutes and finally it started again, but the sound was gone. I got the dreaded screen saying there was something *recently* added which caused a problem. The only thing I had recently installed was the camera. I uninstalled the camera, restarted the computer and everything worked fine.
I thought maybe I had installed it incorrectly so I reinstalled it, called logitech customer support, and tried a few different things (updating drivers, etc.). And although my computer didn't crash again (maybe it would have I just didn't wait long enough, since I didn't want to risk it), other things on my computer did not work properly. For instance, to save power my screensaver is set turn off the screen after a few minutes. This no longer happened, after a few minutes of my slideshow it just went back to the desktop. I know this was due to the camera because after I uninstalled it, all the problems were fixed.
I really wanted to like this camera. I've used a lot of logitech products and have never been so disappointed. After reading the reviews I wondered if maybe I just got a defective camera, but this is actually a well-documented problem on the logitch forums, there's just no real way to fix it. I tried only installing the drivers, not the software- which would make the camera work without the fancy effects such as the "rightlight" technology (a major reason why I bought it) but still no luck, my laptop still malfuctioned. My laptop is barely a year old, so I don't think this was due to a compatability problem.
This is going back to amazon.
Perfict to say "Good Night" May 5, 2008
I use this cam to say good night to my kids when I am traveling. Great picture, easy to install and use. Overall perfict for this type of application!

Like most of the other reviewers, I agree that the image quality and size of this cam are great. The only gripe I have is with the clip used to attach the cam to the top of your notebook. Although it works well enough, It always feels somewhat awkward and it easily moves if you have to move your computer. Other than that, I am thrilled with my purchase. The image quality is worth the extra money.
Really clear and really small April 23, 2008
I'm using this camera for travel. It's really small. The lens looks very high quality. People I have tested this with have reported very good results and say it looks better than the one built into my mac or the other one built into my Sony. This is a very nice product and it comes with a nice neoprene carry case.
