1 out of 5 stars Burned Up   February 10, 2008

This power supply failed in an ASUS M2R32-MVP with an Athlon X2 6000+ 2GB RAM and average video card. The CPU is rated 125W, 2 Hard Drives lets call them 20W each for a total of 40W. I am really uncertain how much the Motherboard draws, but the owner's manual calls for a 500W or more for the whole PC. So what I am trying to say is that I am pretty sure I didn't have anywhere near 580W of draw when the PS failed. (thought the CPU was near 100% usage when it happened) One of the components started going bad. (for those of you have burned up electronics know the smell. I will have a headache for days.) The PC continued to operate but I am not taking a chance on damaging my components. I am going to take this one back to the place I purchased it. If I were to gauge the actual wattage I would guess it to be around 300-350W. Nowhere near the 580W advertised. I wouldn't buy this one for anything above a P4-2.0GHZ.
