Product Description VAIO DT LS37E T7200 2.0G 2GB - 320GB DVDRW 19-WSXGA+ XBHC WL WVHP
Amazon.com Product Description When space is at a premium, the Sony VAIO VGC-LS37E all-in-one desktop PC offers a slender, space-saving design that will complement your living space while also providing a powerful home computing platform with an integrated widescreen LCD display. Reminiscent of a classic glass picture frame, the remarkably thin VGC-LS37E is enclosed in a transparent polycarbonate frame, giving it a stunning, floating effect. Cables are discretely routed, ports are conveniently located on the sides, and wired connections are minimized (with the integrated Wi-Fi LAN and included wireless keyboard and mouse) to enhance its clutter-free design. In addition to its computing prowess, this all-in-one desktop also doubles as a 19-inch LCD TV (with built-in NTSC and ATSC tuners) and features Sony's XBRITE-HiColor panel technology for brighter imagery and more vibrant colors. It has a built-in DVD burner and Sony's Click to DVD software so you can create a digital entertainment library for personal viewing at your convenience. Video conferencing has never been easier, thanks to the integrated camera. Under the hood, VGC-LS37E is powered by the Intel T7200 Core 2 Duo processor, which provides an optimized, multithreaded architecture for improved gaming and multitasking performance, and it features a 2.0 GHz speed, lightning quick 667 MHz system bus, and massive 4 MB L2 cache. It also features a huge 320 GB hard drive, 2 GB of installed RAM (maximizing capacity), Nvidia GeForce Go 7400 graphics card with up to 335 MB of shared video RAM, multi-format Memory Stick reader, and a Secure Digital memory card slot. This desktop also comes preinstalled with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, which includes all of the Windows Media Center capabilities for turning your PC into an all-in-one home entertainment center. In addition to easily playing your DVD movies and managing your digital audio library, you'll be able to record and watch your favorite TV shows (even HDTV). Vista also integrates new search tools throughout the operating system, includes new parental control features, and offers new tools that can warn you of impending hardware failures. The Basics - Processor: The Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 processor has a 2.0 GHz processor speed, super-fast 667 MHz front-side bus (FSB), and an enormous 4 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)
The Intel Core 2 Duo processor has two computational execution cores in a single processor, providing greater system response when running multi-threaded applications simultaneously with no significant increase in power consumption. It's optimized for multitasking and is ready to support the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system. It can simultaneously run multiple demanding applications--such as graphics-intensive games or serious number-crunching business productivity applications--while downloading music or running virus-scanning security programs in the background. Some of the advanced Intel innovations of the Core 2 Duo processor include: - Smart Memory Access: Improves system performance by hiding memory latency, thus optimizing the use of available computer data bandwidth to provide data to the processor when and where it is needed.
- Advanced Digital Media Boost: Effectively doubles the execution speed for instructions used widely in multimedia and graphics applications.
- Dynamic Power Coordination: Coordinates Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology and idle power-management state (C-states) transitions independently per core to help save power.
- Deeper Sleep with Dynamic Cache Sizing: Saves power by flushing cache data to system memory during periods of inactivity to lower CPU voltage.
- Hard Drive: The huge 320 GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive (7200 RPM) offers a wealth of storage space, perfect for storing a vast multimedia collection or for editing digital video. This SATA hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin to FireWire and USB 2.0.
- Memory: The 2 GB of built-in memory (PC5300, DDR2 SDRAM, 2 x 1 GB, 667 MHz) maximizes the capacity for this machine, enabling you to effortlessly handle a wide variety of multimedia tasks right out of the box.
- DVD/CD Drive: The dual-layer DVD drive is compatible with a wide range of formats, including both DVD+RW and DVD-RW discs, CD-RW discs, and dual-layer (DL) DVD+/-R discs, which can hold up to 8.5 GB of data--great for backing up your MP3 collection or your most important documents. It features the following speeds: 4x for DVD+R DL, 4x for DVD-R DL, 8x for both single layer DVD+R/-R, 8x for single layer DVD+RW, 6x for single layer DVD-RW, and 24x/16x for CD-R/RW. It reads DVD-ROM discs at 8x and CD-ROMs at 24x.
- Keyboard & Mouse: The included wireless mouse and wireless aluminum keyboard folds up for a beautiful presentation when not in use.
Screen, Video & Audio The 19-inch LCD panel has an amazing 1680 x 1050-pixel resolution. And thanks to Sony's XBRITE Hi-Color panel technology, the flat-panel screen will deliver dazzling colors and sharp images whether displaying a DVD movie, television show, or web content. You can connect a standard antenna or cable/satellite set-top box to the LS37E via either RF, composite A/V, or S-Video connections. This desktop includes integrated NTSC (standard broadcast) and ATSC (digital, HD) TV tuners. Video is powered by the Nvidia GeForce Go 7400 graphics card with up to 335 MB of video RAM shared with the system memory. The audio card includes Sony Sound Reality technology with DSD (Direct Stream Digital) support. It also includes a high-definition digital cable tuner with NTSC (standard) and ATSC (HD) support. Networking, Connectivity & Expansion By utilizing the unit's built-in wireless LAN (802.11 b/g) technology, the VGC-LS37E can be positioned virtually anywhere in the home or office and still access Internet sites, e-mail, and networked PCs and hard drives. It also includes a next-generation ExpressCard 54 card slot (in addition to a standard Type II/I PCMCIA slot), which lets you take advantage of thinner, faster, and lighter expansion cards for even more advanced wireless, networking, storage, and security features. You get a good offering of connectivity options: - 4 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players

Not PERFECTO but overall great machine! Bravo Sony! May 31, 2008 I have VAIO VGC-LS35E model which is slightly different: it have more powerful processor Core2 Duo T7200 2.0 MHz, larger hard drive 320GB 7200RPM SATA and Vista Premium. Kind of difficult to figure out whole setup but finally it's on desk, looks stylish and smooth. Laptop-like keyboard, switches off automatically if you forget to do. Had to replays that Sony calls mouse with Logitech MX Revolution Wireless, rechargeable battery lasts for more than a week. It is really a bomb! Nice features like Build-in Wi-Fi, memory card reader, TV tuner, Web Cam, Remote, USB and FireWire ports, overall great entertainment pc! Pros: all in one, lots of power, roomy hard drive, build-in Wi-Fi, TV tuner and remote. Cons: lack of documentation, detailed instructions how to pair keyboard and mouse, only 4 USB ports and One FireWire, glossy Display which it makes it difficult to use in bright room, cheap speakers, difficult to read keyboard display (Caps Lock on/off), not upgradable memory or anything, noisy DVD drive.
Great unit January 14, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Was a lenghty decision between the iMac and Sony desktop! Though, I'm incredibly happy I decided on the Sony. Amazon was the best price and free shipping. It arrived only a few days after I ordered. Very, very and very satisfied with the product and Amazon.
So far so good. January 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have only had the computer for a month and so far I am pleasantly surprised. No issues except for the lack of instructions for pairing up the remote keyboard and mouse to the computer. Yes, they do have these instructions online but how can you get online without a keyboard and mouse! It was no big deal though, I just called customer service, (fairly quick), and was told there was a switch on the back of the computer that had to be reset and then you had to immediately reset the switch on the keyboard and mouse. Still, it wouldn't kill them to include a booklet. I have already had to replace the batteries in the mouse but the keyboard is still fully charged. It may have been because they come with cheap batteries.

I love it, getting used to wireless mouse and keyboard, forget to turn them off sometimes, they drink batteries.
Good for you Sony September 15, 2007 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Installation was a breeze. I just pulled out the big "Start Here Diagram" that was in the box and started connecting the different parts. It did take me a second to figure out how to pull off the back panel. I didn't want break my new Vaio. But it came off easy. Like the previous reviewer said, the "Star Here" Diagram is pretty easy to follow with big pictures explaining what's what.
Being wireless is nice. Love the wireless keyboard and mouse. Once the Vaio started up, it found my wireless network and my wireless HP C5180 All in One Printer. I did have to add a wire to the back, because I think the Sony side speakers were kind of weak sounding. So I added my Acoustic Authority Speakers with bass to it via the headphone jack on the side.
This is my first Media Center Edition computer, so hooking up my Time Warner Cable wire and hooking up the included HDTV tuner with antenna was pretty easy. I live on the second floor, so receive most of the available local over the air HDTV stations. The video looks great on this beautiful 19 inch screen. I was a little bummed that Sony is going to offer a larger screen 22 inch screen this October, but this one is big enough for me.
It runs Vista Home Premium pretty much flawless. I had an old Vaio desktop (RB30) with Vista Home on it, but it could not handle multitasking. On this Vaio I can watch TV, work with Adobe Photoshop element 5.0 and be on the internet all at the same time. I did disable some of the startup items (via msconfig) that I didn't need like QuickBooks, Adobe Reader quick launch, Vaio camera utility server & QuickTime. My Vaio starts up 50% faster. Oh and I deleted Norton right away which has been known to slow down a computer. I already had a subscription with Kasperskey. Microsoft announced that Vista Service Pack 1 will be available the first part of 2008 so that should really speed things up. Overall, I've had my Vaio for a month now and have been very happy with it. It's very quiet also.
