Excellent Computer July 11, 2008 This brand new lenovo works just fine. As it only have a 1.8x celeron procesor run smooth and fast enough to run my design programs, office, check the mail and surf the net. If you want this baby to run faster upgrade it to 1Gb (1.5 Gb with the memory preintalled) or 3Gb (as I plan to do soon) It's wide screen its perfect for design programs and office as it lets you see more and do more. IBM software (thinkvantage) is kind of confusing at first (asking you about passwords, internet access and so) with time you learn to take advantage of this cool software. I really really like my computer.!!!
A Great Business Tool!! December 31, 2007 17 out of 22 found this review helpful
This is truly a classic business tool laptop.
A worthy member of the Thinkpad legacy, it has all the hardware engineering and software support that no-nonsense business users value most. Coupled with the fact that it comes loaded with Windows XP Professional completes the ideal package.
It has performed flawlessly so far, and the only change I'll make in the next few months is a memory upgrade to 1GB, just to make it complete. It came with no bloatware, but instead a great suite of ThinkVantage software to help you use the computer better.
I don't believe I'll be using any other brand of computer from now on. Thinkpads are an unmatched classic, like Ray-Ban Aviators, Chuck Taylor sneakers, or Levi's 501 jeans: imitated but never equaled.
There's a reason why every Space Shuttle mission in the last 12 years has averaged 7 Thinkpads on board, and the International Space Station has at least 8 on board at any given time, all of which shows that when people's lives and hundreds of millions of dollars worth of machinery are at stake at 200 miles over the Earth's surface, they rely on Thinkpads to get the job done!
At the turn of the 21st century, the only notebooks certified for long-term flight on the International Space Station (ISS) were ThinkPads. The Thinkpad is still the official ISS Portable Computer System.
I also see why many of the top universities in the country, at the undergraduate, graduate and alumni levels recommend and downright shepherd their people towards buying Thinkpads, even offering discounts to achieve it. Some of them simply recommend not buying anything else. Enough said.
The question is, as I see it, not whether to get a Thinkpad, but which one?
