Amazon.com Product Description The Samsung 226BW 22-Inch Digital/Analog Widescreen LCD Monitor offers razor-sharp, widescreen image clarity and a host of innovative features. The image quality of the 22-inch widescreen offers wide viewing angles with bright colors for a very favorable viewing experience. With a wider viewing angle (160-degree vertical and horizontal viewing angle) Samsung makes sure you can see objects on your screen even when you're leaning over to grab a snack. With 16.7 million colors bombarding your rods and cones, you'll be impressed with the clearer, brighter imagery that this wide spectrum monitor has to offer. Another impressive feature of the 206BW is the pixel pitch, or the distance between pixels. This specification is usually measured in millimeters, and the smaller the pitch the sharper the image. Samsung offers a remarkable 0.282-millimeter pixel pitch for outstanding image clarity. The most talked about spec associated with LCD monitors is the measure of the difference of brightness levels between the brightest white and the darkest dark--the contrast ratio. With a contrast ration of 3000:1, this monitor assures crisp, easy-to-view images. Lastly, Samsung has designed this monitor with MagicColor to improve hue and saturation of colors. This function also adjusts mid-level colors to shades that the human eye accepts as natural. By enhancing the contrast ratio with MagicColor, fresh images with exceptional clarity spring to life, even on a darker screen. Connectivity is also important when choosing a monitor. The 226BW features an advanced dual interface that is capable of handling both analog video signals for present use, and digital video signals for the future. Whatever the signal sources are, this monitor will process those signals to give you an optimal viewing experience. In addition, this monitor features a standard D-Sub 15-pin connection and a fast DVI-D connection for your high-resolution demands. Other features include compatibility with all major operating systems (including Microsoft Vista's Premium standards) and an ultra-fast 2ms response time that virtually eliminates the "blur" that is present in 25, 16, and 12ms monitors (this is especially good news for gamers). Plus, with Samsung you have Magic Technologies, such asMagicBright3 and MagicTune, right at your fingertips. MagicBright3 is a new feature that provides the best viewing environment depending on the contents of the image you are watching, and MagicTune is Samsung's OSD (On-Screen Display) solution that provides a simple, convenient adjustment to the best image quality.
Product Description The Samsung SyncMaster 226BW monitor features a lightning-fast response time that makes it a particularly attractive choice for gamers who seek true-to-life images and a vivid gaming experience. The monitor features other excellent specifications that provide premium performance, value and style to home and commercial users. With 16: 10 wide aspect ratios, the 226BW offers precision and enhanced productivity for a range of professional and entertainment applications. It is further equipped with dual inputs (DVI-D & Analog), and is HDCP capable.

Excellent monitor July 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I use this monitor for Photoshop and other graphic apps. The color seems very accurate, which is important. Samsung makes great products ansd you can't go wrong with this monitor.
Broke after 4 months. June 28, 2008 This monitor broke after I had it for 4 months. I'd steer clear of it. Also, I never liked it when it did work. If you're sitting a few inches below looking straight at it, it would get really dark at top.
Perfect out of the box June 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this monitor about 2 months ago from Amazon. From the moment I connected it to my computer, I have been impressed at the clarity and contrast of the monitor.
I do video editing on the monitor using HD video. The picture quality is amazing.
I have the monitor connected using the DVI cable to a Nvidia Quadro FX 560 graphics card. I have had no issues with color, response or anything.
I would highly recommend this monitor to anyone.
On Price / Performance It Can't Be Beat June 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I started buying Samsung products back when they released their first MGA-compatible monochrome monitor for the PC/XT. Oops! Dating myself here. It was a budget brand then, but the quality impressed me. Samsung has been my go-to brand for monitors ever since. Better performing than most "name brands" at a lower cost.
The 226BW is no exception. I was a little hesitant to replace my CRT for gaming, but this monitor is fast enough that I don't really miss it. Not to mention it takes up less space on my desk, and no radiation burns! The only regret you'll have when buying this is that it's not a 24-inch. This 22-inch monitor is still not quite wide enough to place two full-size documents side-by-side without overlap. If that's important to you I recommend you save up for the wider one. Just one minor complaint really... as others have pointed out, the shiny bezel scratches easily.
In case you were wondering, my Samsung MGA monitor still works 25 years later. Can't seem to come up with a use for it though!
Grab These Before They're Gone!!!!! May 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I own two Samsung's 226BW's used on a video editing system. The performance is very good. I needed another 22-inch monitor, and I thought Samsung's newer 2253BW would be just as good. WRONG!!!! I thought that text on the 226BW's wasn't quite sharp enough, so I substituted a 2253BW for comparison. The difference was amazing. The 226's appear to be significantly sharper! Don't get me wrong... the 2253's are OK, but, given a choice, scarf up some of the last 226BW's!!! You will not be sorry. Note that the 2253's no longer have the VESA mounting capability, and the tilt is so stiff that I remove the base to make tilt adjustments (for fear of cracking the case or screen).
