5 out of 5 stars great with one problem   January 1, 2008

This really is a great stroller. I've been using it since my daughter was three months (with blankets rolled into the corners because she was so small). It maneuvers beautifully, the front wheels will turn around all the way, and contrary to what a friend told me, you can push it with one hand if you are careful.

It only has a few problems: 1) The harness straps are set up counterintuitively - i've gotten used to them, but they drive my husband crazy. It's hard to describe, but the clasps emerge from under the straps when you would think it would make sense to emerge from the top. Overall, not a problem for me; 2) There are only two backrest levels - mostly upright and about a 45-degree incline. My baby brother had a Peg Perego stroller that reclined completely flat, allowing diaper changes and optimal comfort for sleeping. I really wish this stroller did that. Of course, the Peg Perego cost more and was heavier, so you have to decide what's more important; 3) It's a little tricky to fold up. It actually took me months to figure out how to do it (I could have looked at the instructions, but I'm like a guy in that respect) so I just threw the thing fully open into the back of my minivan each time. It's actually not that difficult, but I find that I need to use both hands because there is a bar that needs to be lifted in the middle (it has a black plastic thing on each side) to allow me to push up on the middle black plastic piece for it to fold, and that bar always falls down if I don't hold it while pushing on the other piece upwards with my foot (yeah, it doesn't make sense until you try it, sorry).

Overall a great stroller.

5 out of 5 stars Top Ten Best New Parent Purchase   November 26, 2007

I heard about Maclaren strollers from a friend who is a seasoned parent. She described it as a must-have stroller. We had been using the umbrella stroller that we'd received as a shower gift, but it had a few short comings. First, our 8-month-old daughter was already wearing it out (the seams were beginning to rip). Second, it was not very substantial in construction (it was, no doubt, much less expensive than the Maclaren). Last, it was not as comfortable to push due to the lack of height of the handles (especially considering my own modest height). All of these issues were easily addressed by purchasing the Maclaren stroller. It's worth the extra money because it will outlast several of the less expensive umbrella strollers. We've travelled across country several times with it, and it proves its worth during every trip. I highly recommend this stroller to any parent or anyone who would like to give a parent a gift that keeps on giving!

5 out of 5 stars THE umbrella stroller to get!   September 9, 2007

while i have only strolled my 4 month old son around in our living room so far, i am positive that we are going to have a great time with this stroller. it meets all of the requirements i was looking for in an umbrella stroller. it is lightweight, easy to fold, has a rain cover and a sun shade that can be moved to be directly in front of the child (for when the sun is low in the sky), very maneuverable, and the handles are not too short (not that I am tall but I don't have to lean over nor does my taller husband).

yes, it costs more but i expect that it will be the only city/indoor stroller we will need for our son until he outgrows strolling as it seems very well-made compared with all the others i have checked out.

you really do get what you pay for!
