Iron has a central role in transporting oxygen in the body. It is an important part of hemoglobin in red blood cells and myoglobin within cells, to transport oxygen in the body. Iron is necessary for iron-deficiency anemia, in which red blood cells are not able to carry enough oxygen to meet the body's needs. Symptoms of anemia include fatigue, poor concentration, and an increase in colds and infections. Iron also helps strengthen the immune system and helps in the manufacturing of collagen, a protein that builds connective tissues. In addition, a number of enzymes for body processes require adequate iron, such as the production of the neurotransmitters, serotonin and dopamine, which are brain chemicals that influence mood and behavior. I prefer this brand of iron supplements. They do not flush out of your system quickly, and they are affordable. Since I have used these in conjunction with my multi-vitamin my hair has grown faster, white marks on my fingernails have disappeared, I don't freeze all of the time, and I'm not as exhausted during my workouts. I recommend that any woman that is of a child-bearing age take these. Blood tests showed that the iron level in my blood was good, and all of these above listed symptoms persisted. No doctor ever recommended that I take an iron pill. Taking this supplement has benefitted me more than any vitamin or supplement I've ever taken.

Nature Made makes a great iron pill that comes in sturdy plastic bottles of 200 so that you can get the iron you may lack in your diet. As Amazon notes above, "iron has a central role in transporting oxygen in the body. I like that this brand of iron includes no artificial flavors, preservatives, chemical solvents, yeast, starch or gluten.

One of these a day should help you get rid of anemia or any other medical condition that could require you to use this product. Use these pills by the expiration date printed on the label of the bottle.

If you have any questions, consult a doctor BEFORE taking these pills. These pills can interact--in a bad way--with certain prescription drugs, so please be careful! Your doctor may have you take something else instead of iron or they may want you to take these pills in conjunction with something else. Read the entire label before taking these pills; and keep these iron pills out of the reach of children, please!
