5 out of 5 stars So long, gas station air pump!   November 11, 2008
I've always neglected the air pressure in my tires, mostly because I dislike running around the gas station parking lot trying to get the most out of my 75 cent air investment. Besides that, I can only drive one car there at a time so it takes two trips to get them taken care of. Winters in Chicago don't help this process.

That's why I'm so thrilled with my recent purchase of this Slime inflator. I can stay on top of my cars' tire pressure from the comfort of my own garage. Here are some thoughts on the product:

- I was very caught up in the 12v 15 amp discussions from other reviewers. My 2002 Honda Civic only had 10 amp lighter sockets. My 2004 Toyota Sienna thankfully does have 15 amp lighter sockets. Don't make fun of my cars - that's how I roll...
- Needless to say, the Slime worked fine while plugged into either socket, even the one with 10 amps. I didn't feel like sacrificing a fuse to prove a point, so I only turned it on in the 10 amp socket for a few seconds.
- It turns out that each of my tires only required a few seconds of compressor time to get them fully inflated. I filled up 8 tires this evening, and they were underinflated by about 3-4 PSI on average (it just got really cold here). I turned on the compressor for less than 15 seconds for each tire.
- The DC power cord and the green air hose team up to provide a surprisingly long distance reaching capability. I was able to fill up the eight tires on my two cars all while plugged into the one car. I stretched it a little, but it certainly has some length.
- The nozzle screws into the tire stem to make the whole operation hands-free. I would suggest over-inflating each tire since a little air is lost while unscrewing the nozzle.
- The air pressure gauge is not very accurate. When compared to the readings from my new Moroso 89560 tire pressure gauge, the built-in Slime gauge was higher by 3-4 PSI. Even though it is wrong, at least it was consistenly wrong for all eight tires. Also, the scale goes very high so it is difficult to see a precise reading with any detail.
- The carrying case is nice and compact. Yes, they could have made the main zipper pouch open a little wider, but it's no big deal.

He keeps mentioning to me how much he likes this product. So, that says it all!

4 out of 5 stars seems ok   October 15, 2008
The pump works as advertised. I think other reviewers might have commented on the pump time; I don't think this is a problem but an advantage. To get an accurate pressure in your tire its good to have a slow inflation (less temp/press change too).

Its not quite as 'solid' feeling as I would like and only time will tell if it works when I need it. Fingers crossed.

5 out of 5 stars Good product & customer service   September 25, 2008

This was my first experience using a compressor to inflate my car tires. I called the Slime Company when the unit wouldn't run at first. The very nice/helpful person walked me through the steps. For my car (a Saab), I found I needed to have the ignition switch in the ON (not STart) position for the compressor to run. The gauge on the unit does register about 4-5 lbs higher than 2 other pressure gauges I used, but that is easily worked around. I would describe this compressor as being quiet, fast, easy-to-use, and the screw-on connection to the tire is secure. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

5 out of 5 stars it's cute   September 21, 2008

Haven't used it yet; although, I looked it over. I got it partly because it's a cute little thing. Fits in my car nicely. Basically I took the recommendations of the other reviewers. The ones mentioning the 15amp output requirement were extremely helpful. Just wanted to add that feedback. The coiled hose fits nicely into its zip compartment.
