4 out of 5 stars Best Printer for the Price   July 15, 2008
After quite a bit of looking for a reasonably priced disc printer for mass production, I settled on the Dymo DiscPainter. (I print about 200 discs a month with it). What makes this product great is it's pretty fast at printing large quantities considering it's manually loaded. I wasn't willing to spend over a thousand bucks on a printer, but i wanted something that looks professional. I use it alongside a 5 disc duplicator, and it zips along at a good speed. It will do a full color CD in about a minute and a half. Just don't waste too much time watching it print. (It's cool to watch.)

Ink can be the real cost here, but I've made designs that don't require ink on the whole CD, and it is a real money saver. I highly recommend using white hub-printables. They look great, even if you just print a title on it, or you do full color. (Ridata white hub-printable here on amazon is a great value and prints very well with virtually no coasters.) I have been going back and forth using little to full color on my current ink cartridge, and have probably printed close to 200 CD's on it. If you print full color (especially dark colors), you'll probably get close to 35 discs worth.

I love the easy to use software (although I would expect a 2nd edition to have a lot of good enhancements/ better templates, but it's a new area for Dymo.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome product!   July 14, 2008
I am a small business owner and have used the Dymo a lot since it was purchased and so far, the experience has been fantastic. It's quick, very easy to use, and the quality of the printing is amazing. I highly recommend the Dymo.

4 out of 5 stars good out of the gate   July 1, 2008

just got this product and set it up. i must say that i was a little concerned about it since there are a fair number of negative reviews on this product. first, i am pretty technical with the oddish knowledge gap here and there, so weigh my comments in this light.

from box to first disc print took me about 30 minutes. i read some negative reviews about how complicated this was. just read the quick start and follow it and you should be fine.

i am a photographer, so i first wanted to see how the thing performed with a photo. i just plopped a photo on the canvas, added some quick text to look a little like a customer disc saved the project and went to print. set the print quality to the best possible and made sure the surface was matched to the settings for the printer and pulled the trigger.

print time was acceptable - i won't be doing a high volume cd-print business. it took a few minutes - i didn't time it. the result is far and away better than anything i had ever produced so right out of the box, i am pretty happy.

that being said, there has to be a way to push this thing further and get a nice crisp image without added 'grain' or 'noise' to the print. also, i saw some concentric print tracks - probably from how the disc printer operates (a 'ring' at a time). this is the '4' star rating.

i will be back, if i can spare the time later to let you know if i find a way to improve the print process via settings, printer profile or other.

3 out of 5 stars Good Disc Printer   June 29, 2008
This is a good disc printer, but it does not have the 64 bit driver for it. Also, not as sharp print as I expected. Still it does work well (Windows XP and 32 bit Vista). Contacted tech support and they stated that a 64 bit driver will arrive soon.

1 out of 5 stars CS Manager   June 24, 2008
The Dymo DiscPainter printer is a disappointment for two reasons. 1. Error message appears frequently requesting the correct disc size. This happens when printing multiple copies and the same disc size is inserted. 2. This same error message makes in impossible to print using a template supplied for indesign.. photoshop. It just will not work.
Our company uses label printers made by Dymo. These have quarks that we live with. I should have know better to trust a company "Dymo" to come out with a trouble free machine. I do not expect Dymo to fix their DiscPainter printer anytime soon based on their past track record. I do not recommend the Dymo DiscPainter printer. Hope this helps.
