4 out of 5 stars Good one   May 6, 2008
I used to use casio's calculator. Not only the finance one but also the scientific one. To use casio's calculator is really easy that you would know how to use it even without guide book. However, the Taxas one is the one could be used in CFA exam. Not that easy to understand how to use as casio but not that difficult as I image. Once you got it's logic, you will know how to count on it.

5 out of 5 stars great calculator   May 1, 2008
i have both the financial calculators that is the texas ba11plus and the casio fc 200v; comapared to the fc 200v the texas ba11plus is much much better calcualator it has great speeds of calculating the irr while compares to the fc200v which very very slow; the display is also better when comapares to fc 200v;the fc 200v has some more functions compared to the ba11 plus but given a choice there is no match for the ba11 plus professional.

5 out of 5 stars Who Cares What the title is names   April 20, 2008
This calculator is a little tricky to figure out at first, but I am stubborn and don't enjoy wallowing through training manual so it may just be me. It does all the necessary financial functions required for my financial coursework and relatively inexpensive. Shipping was fast two. do be careful to hit the clear button (bottom left) or your answers become frustratingly inaccurate.

2 out of 5 stars Frustrating   April 17, 2008
After using the HP 12c (and the 12c 25th Anniv edition), this calculator was insanely frustrating to use. The keys didn't always respond, even with the "click" which requires me to keep a vigilant eye on the display when inputting numbers (this is most common in repeating digits, such as 10,000 which will frequently drop a zero or two). Also, the lack of an RPN option is a glaring flaw considering the prevalence of the 12c over the past 25 years.

On the plus side, the one-key delete is a huge plus, though I suppose it's a requirement given the spotty input. And it does its job - and fast - it's about 50% faster than the 12c 25th Anniv edition (and about 15 times faster than the '81 model), but the difference between modern calculators is fairly negligible, looking at the difference of a split second for difficult interest calculations or such.

Other than that, it does everything that a 12c or other financial calculator can, with one exception. It can do trig and a handful of other non-financial functions. Maybe there's a reason for this, but I don't see it.

Unfortunately, the 12c is not allowed in SOA exams. If they were, you can bet I'd sell this one ASAP.

4 out of 5 stars Wonderful functionality built in a little heavy body   March 28, 2008
The BA II plus has more functions than my earlier BA II. Thanks to TI for the added features. It would have been wonderful to have a light weighted BA II Plus.
