Great, clear-sounding phone July 31, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I read quite a few reviews while looking for a phone before settling on this one. I'm generally quite happy with the performance of it.
The screen is very clear and easy to read. More importantly, the sound quality has been excellent. Words were sometimes hard to hear on my old phone, and non-word sounds (mhmm, uh-huh, etc.) never seemed to make it to the other side. This phone, though, catches everything. Another thing I like is that I can turn down the earpiece without affecting the other party's volume. Speaker phone is great, too, and the other party usually can't tell I'm using it.
It's not all sunshine and poppies, though. I'm annoyed with the 50-number phonebook. That's 50 *numbers*. I didn't realize it would fill up so quickly. When many people have at least two or three phone numbers, that can easily be just 20-30 people. I know hermits with more people in their phonebooks.
Also, the phone is great with my wireless network, but terrible with my radio (they're right next to each other, which is unavoidable). Another minor annoyance is that it tells me I've missed a call, even when I've answered it.
I'm happy with this phone, but will definitely make sure my next one has a larger memory.
Solid Phone! July 26, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this phone! It replaces my other Panasonic phone. The connection is clear and does not interfere with my wireless network. The build quality is very nice, better then I expected. I've splashed it a little while doing dishes in the kitchen but no problems. I've yet to drop it on anything but the bed or carpet floor, also without any problems. Most people thing I'm on a corded phone when using it . I'm impressed!
Not worth the extra money July 5, 2008 4 out of 10 found this review helpful
I bought this phone because our Uniden 5.8 GHz phones were not ringing loud enough and the higher frequecny has trouble going through a lot of walls. Which my old 2.4 GHZ didn't. I figured the lower frequency would take care of both the Wi-Fi issue and range through walls issue. Well yes it did, but the phone is not worth the extra money. The phone seems to work fine through 3 walls without dropping the signal like my 5.8 does and it doesn't mess with the Wi-Fi. Problem is, it doesn't ring worth a hoot either. You can barely hear it. Yes, I have a hearing loss, but not so bad that I can't hear a phone ring. This is just a standard cordless phone that uses a lower frequecny and charges you a lot of money for it. Save your bucks and buy something different.

This range, clarity, and volume of this phone were superlative, but amazingly I had to return this after one week of using it. The LCD display went bad and developed lines at the bottom, making menu selections unreadable. For a phone that is touted as being shock and water resistant, I was shocked that this happened without it even being dropped one time. The handset is a lot bigger and bulkier than my last two Panasonic phones, although this may be by design to make it more impact resistant. I saw some other Panasonic DECT phones that have a much sexier handset, and wonder if they are as fragile as this one turned out to be. The base is a very simple and unobtrusive design, which I liked very much. I am very brand loyal and felt that Panasonic made the best phones for the price, and perhaps I just received a lemon, but I am going to try a different brand this time. If you are on the fence about DECT technology and thought it was a gimmick, try the phones and hear the difference. They do sound much clearer (even on speaker phone which is excellent on this model)and have far less interference issues than my older 5.8 ghz phone which didn't get along well with my wireless router. The range is super impressive as well.

Great reception and clear sound. Only two minor considerations. #1 -- battery life is about two hours of talk time before you need to return to base unit to recharge. #2 -- once you place on speakerphone, you cannot turn-off speakerphone and return to speaking on handset in the middle of a call. For instance, I was placed on hold for a long time and used speaker phone while I waited. When I was taken off hold, I could not turn off speakerphone. Nonetheless, I would strongly recommend. Own other Panasonic cordless phones and have been pleased.
