Amazon.com Product Description Forget the mere 70 inches of even large flat-panel displays, the HC1500 DLP Projector lets you project a high definition image hundreds of inches large. With its quiet operation and huge, beautiful picture, the HC1500 could make your home cinema the envy of all your neighbors.
The HC1500 is just 6.5 pounds and has 1600 ANSI lumens of brightness and a 2500:1 contrast ratio. View larger. View product details. |
The HC1500 can project an image up to 275 inches for a true theater experience. | True HD Images The HC1500 DLP projector projects video in a native 720p format so you get a highly detailed HD picture that looks crisp even at large sizes. It features Texas Instruments BrilliantColor, which utilizes a seven-segment color wheel and an algorithm that enables brighter mid-tones and more realistic color. The HC1500 also offers 1600 ANSI lumens of brightness and a 2500:1 contrast ratio. Depending on the size of your room, you can project the image from 40 inches to 275 inches diagonal. The HC1500 has a lamp life of 3000 hours in low mode and 2000 hours in bright mode. Pure Connection From Source to Screen The HC1500 has HDMI 1.2 and component cable connections to ensure a pure input signal from beginning to end. With 10-bit processing, the information is unsullied and the result is a pure image on the screen. Be advised that this projector (as with most projectors) does not include a tuner; to watch television, you need to provide a television signal, either through an external tuner or a cable box. Easy Set Up and Quiet Operation At just 6.5 pounds, the HC1500 is easy to transport and move around in your home theater room, and it has both vertical and horizontal digital keystone correction that makes it easy to mount on the ceiling or place on a table. The HC1500 operates at a quiet 25dBA that won't distract you while you're enjoying movies or television. A 12-volt Trigger jack allows the projector to control a compatible motorized screen. A remote control with backlit buttons is included. The HC1500 is backed by a 1-year limited parts and labor warranty, and a 90-days lamp warranty. What's in the Box HC1500 projector, AC power cable, RGB cable, RS-232C cable, remote unit with battery, light shade cover, quick start card, user's manual, and safety manual.

Excellent projector... July 5, 2008 I bought this after weeks of searching for a projector to use as a home "drive-in" setup. For those of you who want to take advantage of warm summer nights (with little to no wind!) this projector is perfect! You will have to wait until dusk to get a decent image on a decent screen, but by the time it gets dark you will have a spectacular image. The screen I'm using is 120" and the projector fills it up perfectly. The clarity and colors are fantastic for a lower end projector. Ease of use is great also. Comes with everything you need to plug in your input source (if it's not an Apple product).
The 1500 is truly a great way to get into the home theater hobby and start building your dream setup. I bought a screen from Dell, but Amazon had some great deals also. Drive-in setup cost was this:
Projector $760 Screen $130 Fence poles $ 20 Umbrella stds. $ 60
Total $970
If you have about $1000 you can have a great drive-in experience every night with family and/or friends and the added plus of being able to take it where you want to.
Home projector June 30, 2008 When comparing price to performance I do not think that this projector could be beat. I am projecting on a 120" Elite 16:9 from 19' away and we receive an awesome picture. Machine seems extremely quiet compared to some. Set up and adjustments were a breeze.
Biggest Bang for Your Buck June 26, 2008 You can stop your research now, this is the best projector for you dollar. The most inputs, great lumens, easy to use and projects a great image. Our budget did not allow for a super projector, but it seems we got one anyway. I have never gone wrong with Mitsubishi. Beware the projector salesmen groups, wow are they salesmen, watch out what you sign up for on the net! Just purchase from Amazon and all is good. Another quick note, I went to all the big electronics stores, Fry's, Best Buy, etc. and this unit blows all their display models away, most did not have HDMI, the only way to fly in the hook up department
Good buy June 23, 2008 The amount of positive feedback and price of this unit is what made me choose this projector for my living room tv.
I have this unit ceiling mounted throwing a 92" picture. I have it hooked up to an HD directv receiver, a PS3 and a laptop.
I'm very happy with the picture quality. It's plenty bright despite the fact I am throwing onto a beige wall and I do have 2 windows that attempt to wash the picture... yet it's bright enough I can still run the bulb on low to extend the bulb life! The picture is sharp and offers rich color. I don't see any artifacts either. I give it an A+
One thing I'm not fond of is how high the picture throws on the wall. I adjusted the mount to tilt down to get the picture where I wanted which leads to top keystone. I used the keystone adjust to fix the picture but I would have prefered this to throw a bit more level since keystone correction builds a bit of a light border around the picture. This doesnt bother me too much.
The only thing I dislike about the projector is its lack of drivers/computer support. All the other display devices I have hooked my laptop up to get recognized as display devices and install to my computer. I'm able to output native resolution as a result. With this projector it shows up as unknown display device and ATI doesn't have the right output resolution (1320x720). I tried third party drivers b/c they let me output almost any resolution which fixes that problem however, they caused my card to be unstable so I stopped hooking up my laptop and now stream content from the PS3. Wish Mitsu would put out a driver for it. This is the reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5.
Bottom line: great picture and good reliable unit. 92" picture for less money than a plasma/lcd = winner.
Mitsubishi HC1500 June 16, 2008 We purchased this projector mainly to show negihborhood movies, but have been just as pleased with the quality when showing in our family room. Pros - Crisp, clear, bright picture. Cons - very small zoom throw. I am very pleased with this unit
