Great. When it works... June 2, 2008 I've had this printer for about a year and a half now. I received it as a Christmas gift. I'm greatful for that because knowing that I paid for this thing would make me even more angry and frustrated when it doesn't work. It does a great job printing pictures and scanning. I haven't really had any problems with dull scans like other reviewrs have mentioned. My biggest problem with this item is the fact that one minute it starts right up prints what it should and then about 50-60% of the time it pretends like it's going to print ( I hear things shifting and making noise inside for about a minute or so)only to get message saying that it doesn't recognize a one of the printer cartridges. It usually picks the yellow one, which I have replaced with no lasting results, but it switches up sometimes. It also tells me constantly that the ink levels are low when the cartridges are half full or more. Maybe it's a pessimist. I still have my HP OfficeJet K80xi. Although I shouldn't have to, I think I'm going to have to resort to using the HP for printing documents and the Canon for scanning and printing photos. Customer service is medocre. I contacted them about the problem and they suggested I replace all of the ink cartridges??? At $10-$15 a piece for 7 of them and no guarantee that's what the problem is why would I do that? It has limited use for me, but at least the functions I use on it turn out a good product. Hence the three stars.
Pixma 960 printer May 31, 2008 The printer functions well as a printer and copier. The printer can be used via bluetooth to print in another location, but I have been unable to achieve this with scanning which means I have to have the printer attached to the computer. This defeats the purpose for having purchased a bluetooth item.
Slodog January 26, 2008 The only thing that is missing in an automatic feeder. I had some old slides that I scanned and they came out beautiful. Old faded memories came to light again. I had an HP before but I won't go back. Cannon is better all the way around.
The MP970 is Better in Several Ways January 6, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I ordered this printer from Amazon but never actually used it. I read one review that said the MP960 printed pictures better than the MP970 and was slightly faster. That may be true, but the MP970 prints pictures extremely well and the difference in speed comes down to a few seconds. That said, the following sold me on the MP970: 1) MP970 has built-in networking 2) MP970 can read xD picture cards 3) MP970 has on-board storage for 35mm negative holder 4) MP970 has a smaller footprint than the MP960 (it is also not as tall)
Pretty good November 21, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Printing is good (once you set all the necessary options) but the scanner appears buggy. Maybe it is the unit or maybe the Mac drivers but occasionally a scan job will hang, Cancel is pressed on the unit, this is acknowledged and then sits there forever 'Cancelling' the job. To me a minor annoyance but maybe not to you.
