Bang for the buck May 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ordered this guitar after long consideration with a comparable Ibanez. The schecter in my opinion is a more versatile guitar that still packs a punch when needed.
I'm going to upgrade the pickups to emg's i think however to get a bit more of a heavy edge to the guitar. With a mahogony body and nice hardware, for the price it surpassed competitors offering basswood products.
The wood is a bit heavier, but there are tonal advantages to the mahogony. Some have issues with the floyd rose, but i managed to change gauge strings and adjust spring tension to precise balance with the Floyd Rose the very first time, and i'm primarily a drummer with guitar as my 2nd instrument.
the neck is a wider, flater neck then say an Ibanez. This is not a Wizard type neck. It can still play fast, but you might have to work harder to achieve it.
I recommend this guitar if you want to play hard rock, blues, jazz etc.
Hardcore metal should probably consider the ibanez counterpart to this guitar, or upgrade the pickups on this and take advantage of the mahogony body and other features.
