Amazon.com Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts has spent most of his life feeling 'insignificant'. Bullied at school for being 'different', he realized growing up that he had one true friend and that was his voice. Singing was his escape. He was able to lose himself in his own little world - the vicious words of his tormentors replaced by hauntingly beautiful lyrics and melodies that lifted his heart and spirit. It was a love, a passion, a lifeline that would follow Paul into adulthood and help him through many more periods of adversity.
Though it's fair to say that when Paul strolled awkwardly - almost apologetically - onto the Cardiff stage for his first Britain's Got Talent audition a week before that final, in his now infamous 35 Tesco suit, and announced to Simon and fellow judges Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan that he was going to sing opera, they never thought for one minute they were looking at their winner. Until he opened his mouth and started to sing. Paul Potts Photos

Best Money I Ever Spent On A CD! July 24, 2008 I was absolutely captivated by the YouTube performance and watched it about 20 times. From when Paul humbly almost apologetically walked out on stage saying "I want to sing opera" to Simon's mouth gapping open in astonishment at the sweet sounds that came out of Paul's mouth. We all love an underdog making it but this guy truly has talent to offer. I have to smile at the critics remarks. Maybe everything isn't perfect but all I can say is I love his voice and am throughly enjoying this CD. I wish Paul Potts huge success in all future endeavors. May God continue to bless your voice and life!
Goosebumbs again! July 18, 2008 Wow!!! A number of months ago someone emailed me the link to a YouTube video that showed Paul Potts' first appearance on "Britain's Got Talent" I was captivated as soon as he started singing, then got goosebumps and then got teary eyed. I thought to myself: "What the.....?? This is Opera, dude.....you hate opera!" Or at least I thought did...or was supposed to. No "manly man" would like Opera!! Paul Potts has changed my mind.
As I've grown older, I've embraced a broader expanse of musical genres. But until now Opera was boring. Until now. Gotta quit writing now and go put Paul Potts back on. Oh yeah, I purchased two additional Opera samplers from Amazon.
Paul Potts gets his One Chance July 17, 2008 Paul Potts is solely responsible for bringing opera to the attention of the "every man". From the moment he sings the first note of Nessun Dorma he has hooked us all. The every day guy with the beautiful voice. The CD is really good. When Potts sang on Britain's Got Talent he reached every member of the audience. They cheered, they cried, they rose and they all felt the same emotion: pure joy. The CD does not disappoint.
Simply Enchanting! July 17, 2008 I bought this CD because I saw a YouTube of Paul and I was enchanted with his voice. I love this CD and I was will buy any more he makes. He sings like an angel.
Engineer should be fired July 13, 2008 Paul Potts has a great voice and with more training and practice, he could be an even better performer. I like Paul--he has potential.
Unfortunately, the engineers who are in charge of the sound on this CD put together what sounds like a compressed, flat dud of a CD. Sure, it has the clarity from the wonders of modern recording, but they managed to suck the life right out of this recording.
Instead of capturing the softness, the loudness, the intensity of the musicians and voices, where we should have a *dynamic* sounding CD, that can naturally inspire the listeners, we have one big, flat sound with a couple of pathetic *artificial* adjustments in volume. When people sing, or play instruments, they naturally go from a soft sound, to a loud sound when their inner being tells them to. We don't need some hack in the studio taking that artistry from the artists. If I wanted a flat recording, I would have gone with MP3s. If I wanted compression, I would have gone with MP3s.
It's garbage like this that's made me given up on modern music CDs. It has nothing to do with Paul Potts, but the engineers who no longer have a clue what good sound is all about, and the non-music loving executives who in many cases are making them do this.
The record companies say they're losing money. Good. They've lost major music buyers like myself, and I would be ecstatic if they went out of business. Let the music and sound lovers be in charge again.
And Paul, smile on your next CD.
