Amazon.com There's a cool new development in summer singles: they no longer need to be sunny. In fact, the wetter the better. "Umbrella," the first single off Rihanna's ragingly good third album, may be her strongest ditty yet, and that's saying something considering her run of past summer chartbusters. More stylish than "S.O.S." (from A Girl Like Me) and more interesting than "Pon de Replay" (from Music of the Sun), "Umbrella" barrels forward with big, brawny drums and a hot but haunted-sounding vocal. From there, the upbeat numbers chug forth like chilled pina colada mix into a blender: "Breakin' Dishes" trades skillfully on a recent vogue for man-directed venom, and "Shut Up and Drive" borrows "S.O.S."-style from the '80s New Order song "Blue Monday." Both are irresistible. So, too, are a couple of late tracks. "Rehab" and "Lemme Get That," both produced by Timbaland, prove that being an island girl is no barrier to holding one's own amid a sizzling stew of urban beats. In fact, it's a boon--one that'll register with pop music fans instantly. -Tammy La Gorce

Good CD July 15, 2008 Like this album alot! Rihanna is awesome anyway, but it's good to workout and clean to, gets you amped up! Good Job Rihanna!
Great!! July 7, 2008 I really thought that was a CD for my teenagers but I was wrong it does have catchy fast paced songs but Take A Bow *** We can all relate to
GOOD GIRL GONE WACK! June 29, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Im sorry but Rihanna has to be one of the most OVERRATED ARTIST out there today... Her vocals, live and on record, are horrible! This CD is just filled with annoying songs that surprisingly make hits?!?!
Year after year Rihanna chooses to put out crap.. She has about one or two hits from each CD and then puts out a new one... for example
1. Music of the Sun - Pon De Replay - less than a year later here comes
2. A Girl Like me - SOS [it sounds like a record on repeat..SOS please somone help me over and over again.. TRASH] -Unfaithful: Stop the crying.. a song that i have to turn off to stop my ears from bleeding -We Ride: Should have been called we flop... this track could have been a banger if someone with stronger vocals sang it..
3. Good Girl Gone Bad - HAS TO BE ONE OF THE WORST ALBUMS OF 07-08 -Lead Single: Umbrella - Umbrella is one of those songs that just made is because she had on it, at the time hot rapper JAY-Z, even with out him on it the track still sounded like she was in pain. -Don't Stop The Music: Where do i begin with this HOMO-loving song?!?! There is nothing good about this song.. this song is just trash -Shut & Drive: Like DONT STOP THE MUSIC is trash. -Hate That I Love You: NEYO sounds great on this album [he should have gave this song to a person with better vocals as well] Rihanna sounds like she is hurting.. not to mention the video was wack..
Then she went on to Re-Release GOOD GIRL GONE BAD for some reason to add a few tracks...Nothing to excited
- Take A Bow: Has to be one of her better works... she DOES NOT by any means sound amazing on it but it is decent.
IN ALL THIS ALBUM IS NOT WORTH THE HYPE... RIHANNA IS NOT TALENTED AT ALL... ITS REALLY SAD THAT FEMALE ARTIST WHO CAN REALLY SING LACK BACK UP FROM THEIR RECORD LABELS BUT FEMALE ARTIST WHO LACK IN THE SINGING DEPARTMENT ARE HYPED ABOUT ALL THE TIME

I got to give it up to Rhianna. I will admit that she really didn't catch my attention until I saw her perform "I don't want to be a murderer" at the world music award. She was in rare form for a relatively new artist. Her attire and demeanor was striking. On this new album, Unbrella is a true standout, her video performance is just icing on the cake. Other's like, Don't Stop The Music, Shut Up And Drive, Breakin Dishes, and the duo Hate That I Love You w/Neo and standout's as well. This is a very strong pop album with crossover R & B elements. So far her recordings are making a strong presence and is truly the way to build a music career. She is also very beautiful in a very subtle but noticible way. Her eyes are very striking. And if the word about her and Chris Brown are true I think they make a very nice couple and appear to be equally cloaked,i.e.compatable.

About half of this cd is really good. I like the first 5 songs, notably "Umbrella" and "Don't Stop the Music". The rest of the songs are pretty ghetto sounding, I think Rhianna needs to step it up and do more dance music like Madonna did on "Hard Candy". The ghetto thang is gettin' old. The song "Good Gurl Gone Bad" had potential, but it needed better vocals and a better beat. That being said, I hope Rhianna's next release has a fresh new beat that we've never heard b4.
