Album Description Marcus, the new album from critically-acclaimed and Grammy-winning artist Marcus Miller, features guest appearances by Corinne Bailey Rae, Lalah Hathaway, Keb' Mo' and more. The 13-track album finds Marcus serving up his own signature funk-jazz music and sees him cover some classics including Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground," Miles Davis' "Jean Pierre" and Tower of Power's "What is Hip?"

Marcus - AWESOME ! June 8, 2008 The whole album is incredible. Marcus Miller has beaten his own high standards. You do not have to be a bass player to listen to this CD over and over - but if you are a bass player, you won't take it out of your music player ever !
Suck the consumer! June 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Hi Marcus Miller, isn't it nice to produce two releases with 10 same songs? Last year there came out the CD " FREE" and now with all the same songs + 4 extra songs a CD called " Marcus". Dear Marcus, I feel a bit abused!! The music on Marcus is as good or bad as on Free! I can't understand the proceeding.
marcus June 5, 2008 This guy is absolutely phenomenal live, that's when I first heard him. I went out and bought the CD shortly afterward. It doesn't really do him justice, but there are some juicy tracks on it. Great party music.
What's up with Marcus? June 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I too, am not thrilled by the last 3 offerings from this great artist. I liked M2 but since that CD, nothing. I still play M2 just like I just bought it....and will continue to do so until Marcus releases something better. The music isn't bad it just lacks energy and power. I'm still a fan, though.
Bassist Heaven May 29, 2008 Read a interview in Jazz Times about this artist which got me interested in the album. Marcus does covers as well as originals so as not to alienate the listener. I found both very enjoyable and boy can he rock that bass. Stand outs are Blast, Pluck, and Jean Pierre. These cuts are seriously funky.Even when the tempo is taken down slightly with cuts like Free with Corrine Bailey Rae, Milky Way withe Keb Mo or Lost Without You, the groove is always fresh and infectious. There is not a bad cut on this CD.
