Album Description Universal Motown's multi-platinum-selling, Grammy awardwinning singer/songwriter/actress Erykah Badu returns to the music scene with her new album "New Amerykah" featuring the debut single "Honey". Laced with Erykah's bluesy grit and MC style vocals, the song is bolstered by producer's 9th Wonder's razor sharp hip hop beats. Badu describes the song as "an old school track with some funk on it." The release of "Honey" on November 20th also marks Badu's 10th year in the music industry. To celebrate, the gifted trendsetter prepares the release of her much anticipated new album on her birthday, February 26th. Badu has enlisted some of the most talented, groundbreaking underground producers and engineers in the hip-hop game to support her breakthrough return, including Grammy Award winning producer 9th Wonder (Jay-Z, Nas, Mary J. Blige), Madlib, Mike "Chav" Chavarria and R&B singer Bilal. A special, 12-inch pink wax edition will be available only to DJ's next month and will feature underground tracks, "The Healer" and "Real Thang." "The music is the star," says Erykah, "I just laid down my vocals and let the music breathe while the melodies tell the stories." This album is part one of the series New Amerykah Part 1&2.

Very Disapointed May 3, 2008 I was so excited to get this CD that I went off on the manager in Circuit City beacuse they didn't have it on display and I had to wait for them to get it out the back room. Needless to say now that it should have been left in the back room in a vault never to see light again. It pains me to say this because Erykah is (or was) my favorite artist. Her performance here in Atlanta shortly after Worldwide Underground was the best concert ever. But this CD. Man I can't get through it. I feel lost listening to all the rambles, and I hate the repition. I will now have to screen upcoming records from Erykah. Why Erykah? Why?
Worst Erica Badu CD to date May 3, 2008 I have loved the music of this lady for a while. She is blessed with gordeous voice. However, I feel this CD hides her talents. I have listen to this CD twice now and during the 2nd listen I had to skip through some tracks because I found them so annoying. Erica .... please sing .... dont waste that beautiful voice of yours doing RAP.
Erika, Superb May 2, 2008 the very first time I listen to her music, I said to myself...wow...very powerfull voice...she can sign, not with her lung but with her soul... keep it up girl...
Another Great One From Erykah April 29, 2008 Another great album by Erykah Badu. Don't expect every song to be like Honey and you wont be disappointed.
What'll be on Part 2? April 27, 2008 I love Erykah's music and I love her free spirit. The liner notes for "New Amerykah" for instance, are handwritten and I read them all -- which is rare. I guess I was trying to figure out what she was trying to say beyond the music. The album is about 10 songs long. I love "Me" and about two other songs featuring Bilal, who, to me, is one of the greatest and most underrated soul singers of our time. I'm not sure that I totally understand this album. I don't like most of the songs. I do like the concept, though, and I'm eagerly looking forward to the second part of this album.
