I had been hearing so much hype about these Mary J Blige club mixes, that I was praying for them to become available on cd. After hearing that there was not going to be a domestic cd single release I was disappointed. Well, we can at least get two of the remixes on this cd here!1) Deep Inside (Radio Edit) - 3:48 One of the strongest cuts on Mary J's "Mary" album shortened slightly for the radio. Fabulous use of Elton John's "Bennie & The Jets" sample.
2) Deep Inside (Hex Hector Remix) - 8:27 A bit light for Hex, but a fantastic spin on the track. Hex starts out with a great little 128bpm into, works his way into the the verses and chorus at the same tempo and then, midway through the song, Hex drops the tempo to the Elton John "Bennie & The Jets" sample, then builds the song back up to the 128bpms.. Brilliant!
3) Let No Man Put Asunder (Maurice Joshua Remix) - 5:22 Wow. If this isn't disco, I don't know what is! Maurice Joshua takes her original version and pumps it up just a bit, with more pianos and a stronger bassline. No good for club use, but a nice reconstruction of the song.
So all-in-all, worth having, especially if you are a Mary J Blige fan, personally I'm glad to see some club mixes from this girl again! I hadn't seen anything club-like from her since 1995's "You Bring Me Joy", which is a must have.
