Amazon.com Though it might not be fair to say that Toby Keith has mellowed, he has definitely matured. Rather than taking political potshots, he exchanges bully-boy bluster for a tone of wry bemusement on "Big Blue Note" and "She Left Me," tempering middle-aged pride with a confession that the years have taken their toll on "As Good as I Once Was." After flexing his muscles with the album-opening title track, which sets Keith's musical autobiography to the trademark lope of Waylon Jennings, he showcases the subtler side of his vocal artistry on "She Ain't Hooked on Me No More"--a duet with Merle Haggard--and "Knock Yourself Out," while turning almost tender on "Your Smile" and "Where You Gonna Go." For those who miss the old Toby, there's "Just the Guy to Do It," which proceeds from one of the cheesiest pickup lines ever ("Do blondes really have more fun/Or are they just easier to spot in the dark?") into promises to punch out an errant boyfriend. Yet even this song has more of a Caribbean lilt than the macho swagger of Keith's younger days. --Don McLeese Recommended Toby Keith Discography How Do You Like Me Now?! | Pull My Chain | Unleashed | Christmas to Christmas | Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 | Greatest Hits 2 |

I Love this CD! December 28, 2007 Honkytonk University has some of the best Toby Keith songs ever written. There is just something about Honkytonk U that hits the heart. Each and every song makes a connection, whether it be a tearful goodbye or a cheerful boot out the back door, and each time I listen to it the familiar emotions it stirs are always there.
I became a Toby Keith fan because I've felt like he writes from the soul on so many of his songs, and this CD is just another testament to that truth.
Classic Country August 23, 2007 He has done it again. What talent. This is a must. Great songs from a great songwriter!
Keep them coming...Keith April 16, 2007 I bought this CD specifically for "Big Blue Note" one of my favorite songs. I also got another of my favorites "As Good As I Once Was". Some of the rest are also good but some I had never heard of before. I still feel I got my moneys worth.
I continue to be hooked on you..... February 24, 2007 Vintage Toby Keith. There are however a couple of pieces that are a tad below par, but quite good nonetheless (You caught me at a bad time, As good as I once was, Your smile) in an otherwise excellent piece of Keithean showmanship. There's the usual wry TK humor, with outstanding songs and themes. Specially noteworthy: Big Blue Note, She Ain't Hooked On Me No More. Toby Keith fans should not miss out on having this CD in their audio-shelves (have I gone and created myself a neologism just now?). My vote on this CD is YES! Go ahead and buy it. You will enjoy it.
