| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Review This sturdy butcher-block board is made from select, non-endangered, self-sustaining American hardwood. Made by Catskill Craftsmen, of New York, this board has smoothly rounded edges and a channel along the edge that's deep enough to hold any juices released during cutting. The wood won't splinter or dull knives. Take good care of the wood by hand washing and occasionally coating with butcher-block oil. --Dale Steinke
Product Description This natural wood cutting board is guaranteed to add charm to every kitchen.

Great at first, but later disappointed January 15, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This board is a good weight, good thickness, and good size for general chopping. I like the groove feature very much.
I've owned it for a year now. Over this time I've been very careful to never allow it to allow moisture to sit on its surface for very long. I've never soaked it in water and I've always promptly dried it. Despite great effort to treat the board well, it has begun to crack along the grain where the boards are pressed together.
Overall it is a nice board, but only as a piece which you intend to replace within a few years. I don't feel like I haven't squeezed my $10 from the board, but I do wish I'd know that it had a more limited lifetime than I had expected!
Fuzzy board...not smooth! May 10, 2003 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
I was searching for a cutting board in a good size that comes with a groove, came across this and according to the reviews, everything seems positive. Boy, was I disappointed!I've carefully oiled the board with mineral oil almost everyday for the first week I bought the board, and wash it with mild soap and water as instructed. However, there seems to be fuzz (or rather splinters!) on both surfaces of the board. I tried to oil the board again, but it still seems dry (though it has never been used). I couldn't risk having my food stuck with splinters from the board, and therefore had never gotten around to use it. I'd rather go with a Henckels board anytime. A waste of money, would not recommend.
Not a bad Cutting Board May 4, 2003 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
Board is indeed a quality board, but with a name like Craftsmen, I had expected a bit higher quality.
great value for the money! September 13, 2002 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
the groove in this cutting board is a fantastic idea. it keeps liquids (like from fruits or veges) from spilling over onto the countertop. it's a great value, and i would recommend it to anyone.
Very nice! And low bacterial problems* July 20, 2001 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is a very nice piece of wood. It looks great and works much better than those plastic things that slide all over the place. *And the insert with the board said not to worry about bacteria as the plastic ones were actually better at harboring unwanted bacteria! Very reassuring and a nice board!
