Amazon.com Review A waffle baker, grill, and griddle, this three-in-one appliance comes in handy during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and after school. Key to the unit's versatility are two 8-inch-square cooking plates--one set into the product's bottom and the other into the hinged top. On one side the plates form grids for making four waffles at once. Flipped over to show their flat sides they're capable of top and bottom grilling a sandwich or steak. To create griddle space, the top opens up flat, forming two 8-inch-square cooking surfaces for all foods that love a griddle--such as pancakes, hash browns, and eggs. Channels send grease to spouts in the griddles' corners, where it drains away. Nonstick to release food easily and wipe clean, the cooking plates also can be removed for scrubbing. A heat control offers high, low, and medium temperatures. With its chrome housing and stay-cool black synthetic handles, this 900-watt appliance looks great on the counter. Afterward, the cord wraps around the hinge, plus you can stand the unit upright for compact storage. It measures 11-1/4 inches wide, 5 inches high, and 11-3/4 inches deep and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Black & Decker G48TD Waffle Baker July 5, 2008 We first tried the Cuisinart waffle maker which was totally unsatisfactory. Then another kind which also was unsatisfactory. We really did not want a Belgian waffle maker (which was the only kind offered in all of the retail stores), so when we read the positive reviews on the Black & Decker G48TD we ordered it. It suits us to a "T". With the four sections of waffles, my husband and I can eat at the same time while a second batch cooks. I am still practicing on getting the correct amount of batter for each waffle but getting better at it each time.
Shoddy and Dangerous June 29, 2008 I never even had a chance to plug this in and try it out. The griddles don't seat securely, and the metal clips that are supposed to hold them in place are so cheap and flimsy that I couldn't open or close the lid without having the top griddle fall out. Very dangerous if it had been hot. How this waffle iron ever received good ratings and UL approval is puzzling.
Good Waffle Maker June 26, 2008 My husband insisted on getting a waffle maker that had removable plates. The list is not that long. The waffles cook well, although I haven't tried it as a griddle or grill yet.
Waffle Iron June 18, 2008 We wanted a waffle iron with removal grids so they are easy to clean. this fills the bill. However, it is not as sturdy as those we had years and years ago. It does cook waffles and does have removeable grids, but try as we may we cannot get the waffles crispy enough; they come out kind of limp and soggy. Still taste good though.

We got this off of our wedding registry and I can't believe how poorly it is made! The two flimsy clips that are supposed to keep the plates into place are a hazard. We didn't even get to use the thing! We were just putting it together to use it for the first time and the plates wouldn't stay in place. I can't imagine trying to actually cook with it. The super hot plates falling out and burning you or something in your kitchen. No thanks. We will return it for a sturdier and safer waffle maker. What a piece of junk.
