Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Barista grade control for a variety of coffee grinds. The removable bean hopper holds 1/2 a pound of coffee beans. The motor drives the bottom burrs and the top plate is stationary. The distance you position them apart precisely determines grind size. The easy-to-read settings allow for grind choices from ultra-fine for Turkish coffee to large and coarse for percolators.

3 out of 5 stars Looks Good, Could Work Better   July 22, 2008
We've had this grinder for about a month. It's good looking and compact. It grinds the beans evenly, and is very quiet. Now for the problems. The beans don't easily drop down into the burr grinders. This might be because we use French Roast beans that contain more oils than other blends. The container that catches the grounds is pretty flimsy. It's also quite messy, as the grounds are full of static & fly out when you remove it & open the lid. I bought this machine based on the reviews, so I don't know why my experience has been so different than others', particularly with the static & messiness issues.

4 out of 5 stars Worth the money if it lasts!   July 20, 2008
Bought this burr grinder five months ago. I would probably have rated it as five stars, except the first one received was dead on arrival. Motor worked but it did not grind. Although Breville's Customer Service is responsive, the company's shipping policy makes for a slow replacement.

The new one worked fine and it does produce a consistent sized grind. As far as static clinging of the grounds, I find that it depends on the coffee beans themselves. Some stick to the wall of the grounds bin from static cling, while other grounds fall freely from the receptacle leaving a nearly clean bin.

The only other burr grinder I have used was a Cuisinart. One reviewer classified the sound from the Cuisinart as a shriek, while the Breville produced a sound more like a growl. I think I would agree with the analogies, but I would still hold off grinding coffee if Momma just got baby to sleep in the next room. Fortunately, no more babies in the house so I can grind whenever I wish. So far, no problems except the start button seems a bit flaky. Sometimes the grinder does not function on the first push but always does if it is pushed it again.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent grinder for any type of coffee   July 19, 2008
We bought this about 2 months ago and absulutely love it. We've been through 3 grinders in the last year. (We drink a lot of coffee) My husband drinks the drip and I drink espresso. It's quiet and we don't need to grind everyday. We can grind a weeks worth of coffee at a time. It's very quiet and totally different from the old blade grinders we used to use. I highly recommend the Breville brand. We boutht this one cause we love our Breville espresso maker and figured this would be a well made and durable brand to buy. It's also smaller than most other of the brands out there. Looks great with the steel finishing also.

It's the first time I have bought an item like this. So I guess my opinion would not count as much. But so far am impressed and hopes it gives me my monies worth.

1 out of 5 stars Grinder DOA   July 14, 2008

I received the grinder and it was dead on arrival. It was unable to be turned on and it has been sent back.

The item looked to be better constructed than a Capresso 560 Infinity Burr Grinder, that grinder lasted eight months.
