broke within one week August 20, 2008 I bought this item because of the high reviews on Amazon. The coffee grinder broke before I used it 7 times. Needless to say, I am not impressed with Krups. We had a Cuisinart and it broke after 18 months so I replaced it with this. Think I'll go back to Cuisinart grind and brew. The good news is that Amazon's service is good about returning it even though I threw away the box.
Great grinds August 17, 2008 Excellent grind and brew coffee maker. Love all the features of adjusting temperature, aroma, grind. Yes a little(very little) ground coffee gets on the lid when you open it, no big deal.Yes a little(very little) ground coffee stays in the chute after each use,no big deal. I drink alot of coffee, usually going thru two units a year(burning up, brealing down). So far this maker has performed exceptionally. I highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a quality grind and brew type unit!
Quiet, reliable, and piping hot, delicious coffee! August 13, 2008 This is a wonderful machine! The grinder is much quieter than other grind & brew's I've owned. With so many settings, you are sure to be able to make coffee to your particlar taste. The grinder works very well, the machine is easy to clean between uses, coffee is piping hot when it finishes (something my old g&b would refuse to do), the flavor is unmatched, and I have't yet used the "Aroma" function! There are a few caveats, however. This is a nicely-designed piece of engineering, but there's some attention that needs to be paid to prepping the unit for the next pot. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and FOLLOW them to the letter! None of the issues posted have cropped up with my machine, going on 2 weeks of twice-daily use. The grounds don't spray all over the counter, as long as it is prepped correctly. That's why these machines have these manuals. The ONLY issue I can think of is that the coffee comes out so hot that the steam condenses on the filter basket enclosure, drips the water down the edge of the carafe, and onto the hot plate. That's not even worth complaining about, IMHO. The program auto works very well, and it's easy to set. The brew time for a pot is around 13 minutes, so it's not lighning fast. I set it to start 15 minutes before I get up; that way, when I stagger down the steps, I have fresh coffee to greet me. There's a lot of imitators, and a lot of competitors, but this is easiest to clean (toss old paper filter, rinse the filter basket, rinse carafe, and DONE!), and that's what sold me on the Krups over a Cuisinart model.
Died after 6 months August 3, 2008 I bought this coffeemaker in March. I was happy with it, but it just died on me -- after less than 5 months of ordinary use. Disappointed!
Great Coffee/Lousy carafe August 2, 2008 I love this coffee maker. It makes absolutely the best coffee I've ever had at home--hot, great flavor, not a lot of work to get there. Some mentioned that they had a problem with "coffee dust" after grinding but I haven't seen any evidence of that. The only thing that is "off" with this coffee maker is the carafe. There is absolutely no way that you can get water into the coffee maker or coffee into your cup without major spilling. I have learned to use more water than the number of cups I need and to always pour my coffee over the sink. Other than that, this is a terrific coffee maker (need to read directions before using the first time) and I highly recommed it.
