Amazon.com Review This sturdy, durable wand steamer presses wrinkles out of garments, drapes, and upholstery quicker and easier than an iron, and it doesn't "shine" or scorch fabrics like an iron can. Wand steamers are popular in the fashion and entertainment fields, where wardrobe crews must keep clothing immaculate while working quickly. This 1,300-watt steamer shoots high-velocity steam jets out of a 6-inch-wide head to smooth any fabric from sheer silk to thick wool. A removable water tank provides up to 90 minutes of steaming time. The steamer heats in a minute and then rolls to work on sturdy casters. Garments and drapes can be pressed where they hang, including closets, or garments can be hung from a loop atop the steamer's sturdy aluminum rod, which screws together to rise 62 inches above the floor. For storage, the rod has a holder for the wand. Indicative of the steamer's quality is the brass fitting attaching the hose to the tank. (A wrench to tighten the fitting is included, and it has magnets for storage on the base.) Other features include an automatic safety shutoff if the steamer runs dry and a stay-cool wand handle. The steamer's plastic base measures 11 inches wide, 17 inches high, and 14-1/2 inches deep. The steamer carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

6 out of 10 wrinkles removed!!! July 15, 2008 I'm not sure if the steamer works well because this is my first one. I might not even be any good at steaming because I can't seem to make my clothes look smooth and I keep burning my fingers. The unit, although easy to put together is a monster in the closet. It takes up most of the space in there. The rod doesn't seem to hold the hanger all that well and I feel like I'm chasing my clothes all around it while burning not only my finger, but also my legs because of the super stiff hot hose. I only wish I hadn't thrown out the original box, because I can't return it now.
Great steamer. July 14, 2008 I'm a steamer fan, and this one works quickly and well. My only complaint is that it's so tall. I've had steamers in the past where the pole telescoped down to a more inconspicuous height. That said, this one is ready to go very quickly and emits the appropriate amount of steam, making for speedy and effective use.
Excellent and its made in the USA!!! July 9, 2008 This J-2000 is a very solid, appliance. I was very impressed at the quality of the materials when I unpacked the unit. Solid case, thick hose and very nice Aluminum hang bar. It works great. AGAIN, this is not an iron so do not compare it to an iron. It steams great and works almost like an iron. We looked at a lot of different makes and models and they were all pretty cheap. Looked at the reviews here on Amazon and decided to give it a shot. We are very pleased, and even more so since it is actually made here in the good old USA!!! Another great reason to buy (I do not work for Jiffy, I promise).
spray water bottle is easier July 4, 2008 This machine puts out a lot of steam. I gave it four stars because the hanger pole is a little too short. (and I'm not a tall person) Other than that, it is very good. However, I have gone back to my iron for pants and cotton shirts. The iron does a better job faster. I also use a fine-mist water bottle for all of my not so permanent press items. I just place them on a hanger, mist, and let them dry. It is fast, easy, cheap and much cooler. I'll probably keep my steamer to use when removing wallpaper.
Works Great! July 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When I received it I tested it out on various articles of clothing and found it easy to use and cuts down on ironing time once you get the hang of it. I also found that using one of those silicon hot pads in steaming some items worked great and it also protects the hand from hot steam. After getting the touch of using the steamer, I used it to steam my dress for my daughter's wedding and it worked fabulous. It sure saved the time and money of bringing it to a cleaners to be steamed. In fact, I brought it to the hotel and did a few touch ups before the wedding.
