Good quality August 18, 2008 This splint is of good quality and is fairly comfortable. The challenge is that doesn't really keep the best position for me. I do agree with some other reviewers that noted that the sizes run a bit large. I had intended on buying the size the company noted, but I did go down a size. In fact, I could have gone down two sizes. My foot does turn and slip in the boot. I solved this by adding a bit of padding. While I think this split is more comfortable than others, it doesn't really keep a good stretch for me. I have also tried the "toe-pullers" without success. My new plan is to use this splint, incorporate exercises and wear my custom orthotics. I believe a combination is the best solution.

The night splint is of good qaulity. The problem is the sizing is way off. The directions say to go by your shoe size. Well I wear a size 11 shoe, so that would equal an extra large. Well the extra large was way to big. So I had to pay almost ten dollars to send it back for an exchange. I exchanged it for a large. The large is still a little bit big on my foot, but I am using it, as I don't want to exchange it again. I wish I would have gotten the medium size. The problem with stuff like this is you really need to try it on. I wear a sock with it to make it fit better.
Size matters. June 23, 2008 Make sure you order a smaller size. It is so huge it twists and turns around. It is very soft and nice I just wish I read the reviews first and bought a smaller size.

Some comments about night splints for people with plantar fasciitis:
What's the purpose of a night splint? One of the hallmark symptoms of plantar fasciitis is that you have excruciating pain when you take your first steps in the morning. Why does this happen? Because the plantar fascia TIGHTENS over night as you sleep. So, when you get out of bed and put your bodyweight on your foot, well, this suddenly stretches it and..... ouch!
What does a night splint do and how does it work? Night splints keep the plantar fascia STRETCHED OUT all night. So, because the plantar fasciia STAYS stretched, you can get up in the morning and start walking without pain. Even more importantly, because you haven't stepped on a tight plantar fascia in the morning, which irritates it and damages it even more, you've eliminated further stress- which gives it a chance to heal.
Do they work? Yes. As summarized in the book The 5-Minute Plantar Fasciitis Solution, there are numerous clinical trials that have shown that night splints are indeed quite effective at getting rid of plantar fasciitis.
If you're up for trying this treatment for your plantar fasciitis, be aware that you have to wear a night splint ALL night long for it to really work, so, pick one that looks like something you could actually sleep in. The Swede-O Plantar Fasciitis Night Splint, Gray is a little bulkier than some, such as the Futuro brand- BUT THEY ALL DO THE SAME THING. It's simply a matter of finding the most comfortable one for you. Some of the things I do like about this particular model is:
-has lots of nice soft padding for comfort and protection against skin irritation -fits either the right or the left foot -available in different sizes
NOTE: Words of Caution!! May 8, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've had Plantar Fasciitis for nearly a year and have tried numerous treatments including ice. A month ago, I decided it was time to try a night splint. Unlike a lot of the previous posters, I ACTUALLY LISTENED, and bought mine a size smaller than was recommended and it fits great. I wear a size 9.5 and the medium works fine. MAKE SURE YOU ORDER A SIZE SMALLER THAN THEY RECOMMEND. If I had bought a large my foot would be swimming in there. Now for the Review: It's been one month(4 weeks) of me wearing the splint every night, and I also quit jogging 4 weeks ago as well. I can tell you THIS SPLINT WORKS GREAT. The pain in the mornings is gone completely!!!!My PF pain has gone from severe to mild to moderate in 4 weeks!!!!!!!! The excruciating pain is gone!!!! I still feel a mild pain during the day but the pain is nowhere near what is used to be. The key has been to wear it every night and also quit running and working out on the bad foot until it completely heals. I'll give it another 4 weeks and update this posting.
