Not a bad snack May 14, 2008 Not bad for a good afternoon pick-me-up or for a quick breakfast on the go. I liked the taste, but agree that it did make me quite thirsty (so plan on having something to quench your thirst afterwards) I chose this bar because of the favorable reviews, price, and the fact that it was mostly organic. However, if you are trying to be careful, do note that it does contain a derivative of MSG. So if you are trying to stay away from MSG (as we all *should* be doing), might want to pass this up. I'd be eager to see if there was a bar like this, price-wise and taste-wise that is organic/somewhat organic and has no MSG or similar. Overall, (except for the MSG that is in almost everything it seems) it was worth the money.
Among the best... May 11, 2008 Okay, I love Clif Bars. There - I said it. I eat them every day, because they keep me going as I travel from client to client, and they also fuel me up before my own workouts. If you haven't tried a Clif bar, they are somewhere between soft cookie and brownie consistency. They're mostly organic, and are offered in many flavors (though unfortunately not all are available on Amazon!)
Clif bars are best used as a meal replacement, in the event that you can't get good food in your system between breakfast & lunch, or between lunch & dinner. At only 250 calories, they provide enough calories for a small meal, with a good balance of carbs and protein. Generally sold in stores for about $1.50 each, a good price is $1.00 or less per bar, which is why I recommend buying in bulk, or n multi-packs like those offered on Amazon.
Enjoy Clif bars responsibly - one at a time!
Excellent Product May 6, 2008 My wife and I eat these everyday. I could not be more happy with the ingredients or the taste.
Not good taste, A good chef knows looks are important May 5, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
These bars don't taste that good. There look is AWFUL, and they leave you thristy- maybe not a good thing when you are in the trail and don't have much water at hand.
Delicious, Healthy, Organic. May 4, 2008 First off, I love Clif Bars. They are healthy, organic, and extremely tasty.
People have different ideas on what is "healthy." Just because something has sugar or salt does not make it unhealthy. If you have a condition that prevents or limits your intake of those, that is different than it being unhealthy.
I have gleaned my idea of healthy eating from Dr. Andrew Weil - basically eating organic and natural foods and ingredients in a wide variety, avoiding all partially hydrogenated and trans fats, and eating lots of whole grains, fish, and fruits and vegetables.
Clif Bars meet all of my personal requirements, and to my knowledge, are the only energy bars that DO NOT CONTAIN any of the following: partially hydrogenated or trans fats, sunflower/safflower/cottonseed oil, or palm kernel oil. (The only oils I will ever eat are Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Palm Oil, Canola Oil, and Sesame Seed Oil.)
As for the Peanut Toffee Buzz, it is absolutely delicious. I prefer it over the most decadent peanut butter cookie tr toffee bar. And the green tea extract is a nice jolt for breakfast.
