Commuter Flop July 3, 2008 I have no idea whether the FitFlops are toning any of my body but I do know they are comfortable and easy to walk in. I commute to Manhattan everyday and do a lot of walking between client meetings. Unlike conventional flip-flops, the Fitflops are thick enough to keep my feet away from the pavement and out of dirty rainwater. They also stay on for those quick dashes thru traffic.
Overpriced and Unexceptional June 1, 2008 Having benefited from MBT shoe products, I wanted to believe advertising suggestibility that these sandals would reap the some of the same benefits at considerably lower cost than MBT sandals. Not true! These sandals are cheap materials, construction and cheap looking, and so far I cannot discern any benefit from wearing them that differs much from better looking sandals at RiteAid which cost less than $5. Save your money!
Whimsy finds brokeback garden unforeseen relief. May 21, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have had many, many surgeries in attempts to improve my previously broken spine.Pain is 24/7 and dictates to most areas of my life; what I eat, where I sit or lie down, what I wear,....Shoes are a real problem. First they must be easy on and easy off. After that decision it becomes a even more complicated issue. My husband and doctors constantly hammer away at me to buy and wear more practical shoes rather than the "cute" ones I currently wear. My argument is that no shoe really feels ok so I might as well get cute and kick them off as soon as is possible. In addition to a nasty spine I recently was diagnosed w/diabetesII which has increased the clamour from dear husband and sweet doctors. But I am stubborn. And I fall down a lot w/nasty results. While I know my back and the neuropathy in my feet and legs are major contributors to this problem, I blame a lot on the shoes that are currently available. More often than not I go barefoot driving all who care for me crazy. Every summer I buy several pairs of cute and inexpensive sandals. The heat, humidity and frequent rains, not to mention the nasty sticky debris dropped on the streets of New Orleans are all miserably hard on shoes. Especially sandals. I am also a garden, frequently watering my gardens, traipsing through the wet grass. As you can imagine these conditions are murderous on shoes. After losing a beloved pair of tragically expensive but "to die for" beautiful shoes I now only wear inexpensive sandals in the summer that I have no remorse for when I ditch them in the winter. When I saw these shoes I was surprised to find myself even looking at them. They are neither cute or inexpensive (for flip flops). Pure whimsy led me to buying a black pair. In the back of my mind I thought they just might "go" w/the amazing giraffe print leather tote (too, too expensive)I had recently bought. I was very disappointed when I opened the box w/my fitflops. They were uglier than on the web site. I decided then they could be my garden, dog walking, all purpose walking in the rain shoes. The first big day of gardening, as I instructed grandsons where to dig, what to pull and how to plant, I was very aware of the work out the calves, buttocks and feet were getting. In my condition I was left really hurting. But I had not fallen down once and I had felt confident walking around the gardens. Now 4 weeks later I think these are the best shoes ever. They are constructed to encourage proper stance; shoulders over hips, hips over knees, knees over ankles.... The straps do fit snugly to your foot and once "broken in" they are like a pair of fine gloves sort of in the way they hold foot to shoe. I love these shoes. fit really well for flip flops. You feel secure wearing them. They alleviate much stress and pressure to your feet in the right areas. They aren't cute but they do "go" w/many summer styles. I wear them in the mud, in the house, the stores, church...everywhere. I hose them off and they are ready to go. This is hard on them though, hence buying more pairs. At first I was concerned at the thought of wearing them in the winter, but our winters are usually mild and I can buy a larger pair to wear w/socks. This look may not "go" w/winter woolens, dramatic scarves and furry coats but the more I thought about it I realized that true Southerners enjoy the caprice of those who go their own way and are there for slow to criticize fashions of others. Plus I imagine when they hear how fine these shoes feel they too will be trying to buy their own. They are the best shoes for such horribly messed up spines as mine. If you do buy a pair though and really do not like them, if they are a size 9 or 10 I will trade you for a pair of cute sandals bought but unworn this summer. I think you will grow to love them too though.
Fit Flop all black May 20, 2008 I love these shoes, at the time I purchased mine in all black (I didn't want stripes on them and wanted a color to go with everything) Macy's thru Amazon.com was the only place I could get them for the same price as the striped ones. I did have to get used to them, I would wear them little by little, and now they are perfect on my feet, and I do feel them giving muscle tone to my legs. They are well made and a Good buy.
